Scary story but a testament to how safe today's cars are.

Beats me how anybody can say they don't drive in the rain. What do you do when it starts to rain and you're 500 miles from home or anywhere out on the road? This is something that can happen to any of us no matter how careful. It's like a deer strike. Just bad luck.

Default Ohhh Raindrops...so many rain drops- Dee Clark

From Kpride:

If where you live rains, please be careful and keep enjoying this awesome sports car. Be safe everyone. I am out... At this time there is no desire to get another C6 or another vette, as my priority has shifted from car to what my family wants.
_ _ _ _ _ _

I hope you win the Lottery so you can get another Corvette. I had an '08 Mustang V6 that I supercharged myself, and let me tell you - Carol was special. She would beat anything on an incline. Now I have Margaret (2005 C6).
I have never bought a lottery ticket and never will, but I hope you win.
Thanks for the warning about rain puddles.

Wow, glad u r ok. I drive in the rain here in So. Fla
All the time. I will keep an extra eye out for puddles, even though it goes without saying here in Fla. Guess the LA rain is not something you guys r used to with the draught and all.

Good luck and stay safe.

yes, thank you... However I dont think I will do that. I am getting more money from the insurance because of the goodies so that's ok. its just too much headache getting all that good stuff here back home and selling it.

Good to hear you made it out ok. I did the same thing last summer. 12 stiches, broken rib and a write off.

My tires were fairly new. I would say 80% on the front, 90% on the back. Fronts were only about a year old and rear stock. I drive gently most of the time and hence it is barely worn. It doesnt matter in rain though. Vettes can hydroplane VERY EASILY lol...

Glad you are ok. Losing the Vette is bad - hurting yourself would have been worse.

Glad you were not injured, but sorry about your car. We are going on a long road trip, this summer, and I never worried about tires before, since I only take the vette out when it is nice. But, since we will be gone almost 3 weeks, I am going to put all weather tires on her before we leave. From everything that I have read, the Michelin all weathers get great traction on wet roads. Hope you get back into a vette, soon. Good luck.

The post title had me worried a bit, but as long as it was just the car and not you, I felt relieved.
Sorry about the car, but taking a break for a while and caring for family sounds enjoyable. Good choice.
