Default Taking car in for service fear. c6

I'm having a couple issues with my c6 and am taking it to the dealership for the first time tomorrow (Haven't had car long). Expecting they will keep it for a few days to diagnose.. should I be concerned of the care for my car? Having scary thoughts of people racing around in it could just be anxiety, just curious if you guys have any tips, experience, or advice to lessen the chances of anything bad happening? Maybe I'm over-worried, idk.

1. Losing power under accel, car seems to bog down a bit when you get on it.

2. Getting a weird scrapping noise after the clutch is all the way out in 1st gear.

Not really sure what the point of this thread was, so sorry if it is dumb, just curious of what you guys think about leaving cars at these places. Thanks

A lot of guys refer to these places as "stealerships". Enough said.

Yeah I've noticed that, but I have a warranty on the car so they can steal from them hopefully.

There are plenty of good dealerships out there, I would suggest asking the local crowd who they recommend to go to, and who they scream to stay away from.

Check both ends of your plug wires for the power issue, known culprit with C6's. No ideas with clutch. Call local dealers in the area, ours have a few guys that do all the work on Corvettes. There are a ton of guys on the forum in your area, I'm sure they will chime in with shops...

Well, that's just common sense. I never let anyone else wash my cars. I always make sure the paperwork says in big letters "NO WASH".

I don't even let Mr.owc6 wash them.

Check for loose connections, signs of damage, etc? Or is there something specific to check for? I only have the issues when the car is hot.

Thanks for the input!

I purchased my first Corvette last May. I had to take it to the dealership for the headlight recall. They treated me right. I've returned for other stuff all minor. It's always parked out front. They took care of the car. I too declined the wash.
My regular mechanic for my Tahoe gets first crack with my Z06. If it's to much for him I wouldn't hesitate returning to the dealer.

Hope they find a solution to both of your problems without it costing you too much.

We've bought 12-15 vehicles from our local Chevy dealer in the 35 years he's owned the dealership. That includes 5 Corvettes we've bought from him, so we get pretty good service.

I try to stay out of dealerships unless the car is still in warranty.

Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine let me babysit my car while the recall was done.

Mike Zorn / Service manager
Will bend over backwards to satisfy your nerves.
Funny--the service tech in charge of Corvettes strongly suggested avoiding the car wash "crew" after it was over.

First off, don't simply "let" them have your car. Discuss your concerns with a service writer (maybe even go on a test ride) and get a definite time frame for their diagnosis instead of "a few days". If the service writer doesn't think you care very much, then he may not either. If its there overnight have it parked inside. After the diagnosis have them contact you for (your) further instructions after you hear what they recommend. Then decide what you want done. As for washing, I always take mine in spotlessly clean, inside and out and make sure to point that out. Some even take pics. Before paying or driving away, I also walk around the car looking it over closely as if I were going to buy it. Know what I mean? Open the hood too. There's lots to see under there. Any dirty hand prints, scuffs, dirty carpet, ANY thing that isn't as clean as when you brought it in, make sure that's also brought to their attention.

Mine did its first sleepover yesterday for some warranty work. I record the mileage, tell then leave air & fluids alone, park inside and do a thorough walk around at pickup. I have the worse luck so am extremely anxious when anyone works on it.
