Trade C6 for ZL1

Trade C6 for ZL1
Thinking of trading my 2013 C6 Base, 24K miles for a 2013 ZL1, 12K miles. Seems my C6 is losing value as opposed to the ZL1 and I've been offered what I think is a fair trade at the dealer who I've been a customer of for over twenty years?

I just did the exact opposite as you, got rid of the zl1 for a grand sport. I traded in the zl1 because the car is to heavy and I figured the corvette would actually hold its value a lot better than the Camaro. I got a real good deal on both cars. Depends what you want out of it.

Go drive it before you make your mind up. I wouldn't do it; they are totally different cars. I'm currently in a rental 2015 Camaro and it sucks compared to my GS. I had casually entertained a 2016 2SS Camaro instead of another Vette but can now say the two cars are in totally different classes and there is no way I would be satisfied with a Camaro.

I'm lost. Your concern is the value of your current car? Either i'm missing something or thats a weird reason to go from a vette to a camaro....

2016 C6 of Year Finalist
You think your vette is losing value and the ZL1 won't? Huh!

I love Camaros, but the two cars just do NOT compare. Unless you really really need 4 seats, going from a C6 to a Camaro will be a let down.
The Camaro is a powerful coupe and drives like a big heavy sedan because that's exactly what it is. The C6 is a powerful sports car and drives like one. The difference is enormous and obvious.

I sold my '12 CTSV and bought a supercharged C6 GS. It was the right decision for me. The C6 is just a more fun car to drive, IMHO.
Granted, its a little different comparison than your situation, as both cars in my case had roughly the same power.
But like others have said, you should go drive the ZL1 first. Both cars are losing value.

trade it in on a z06 or a nice GS and mod it to your liking. you will tire of that Sherman tank real soon. unless of course you have your mind on getting the camaro, then go for it. either way, good luck.

It crossed my mind as well

Different strokes for different folks. Cannot see it myself. I love my 2011GS and that would be stepping down to me. The ZL1 might have a more powerful engine but with the weight difference I doubt it is a huge deal and there is no way it will handle in the twisties like a vette. Nice straight line cruiser and just another Camaro. You see hundreds daily and most people can't tell one from anaother.

Who buys a Vette base on resale value? Same goes for buying a Vette basr on interior. If you want value, restore a classic.

I wouldn't base my decision on estimated value. The dealer will of course tell you that your current car is valued less and their car has real good value. American cars like to drop 50% of their value in 3-4 years
The original ZL1 owner probably paid mid $50k range for his Camaro. Base 2013 C6s were going for low $40k range brand new.
The dealer is not your friend. I'm sure they made plenty of money off you. My dealer's deal for being loyal was the same deal I could buy from an on-line dealer that never met me.

Having now owned both, there is no comparison. Two entirely different cars. As others have said, the Camaro is a huge vehicle in comparison.
Blind spots are horrible.
The rear seats, if that's what you want to call them, are useless.
And like another said, the dealer is doing you no favors. I'm sure with a little internet research you can figure that out.
