Self Oil Changes
I see most of you do your own Oil changes. I used to when I had my Camaro SS and was a lot younger!! For the vette would need special ramps. Having not seen under the Corvette, is everything easily accessable? Oil drain, filter? Maybe a snapshot of the under body? I have the 08 coupe so not a dry sump

Pics taken during Header install. You will notice pan drain on side of pan ahead of filter in pic.
If you've ever changed oil , It's same O - same O. Just have to lift car a touch higher is all.
(Blaster) driping at pan drain not oil.....LOL

I made these ramps last year from a post somebody made here. They are 2 x 12s, will cost around $50 as I recall.
I copied the poster's picture and used 3 planks, but 4.5 inches wasn't high enough (I only weigh about 170, 5'10"). Note the extra piece I put under the front wheels. The 6" lift is just enough.
Also, I had to get at the plug and filter by getting under the front of the car, there isn't enough clearance from the sides with the ramps. But they work fine; just used them again this week.

I made the same ramps Bruze.....work great but I need more elbow room and would prefer to get under from the side. So I use the ramps to get it high enough to get a jack under the front. Got to be sure and use a good piece of wood for between the jack and the cross member (or what ever they call that piece these days) though to spread the load.

Agree 1001% with others about NEVER getting under a jacked car without jackstands. My father reamed me out for doing exactly that when I was a teenager.
Every once in a while if you notice, on your local news, will be a story about someone killed when their car fell on them.

But that doesn't make it right. One time of a failed jack and say goodbye. Why risk it?
I knew of a kid who was doing his oil on his honda accord. Jack failed on him. Mother came out with the car on top of him. Not a good sight for anyone who has to find you like that.
You being older, imagine your kids finding you like that?? God forbid??
Just use a jack stand next time man.

Take some old guy advice and put a stand under it when you crawl under a jacked car. I am 64 and my father was a mechanic and stock car driver in the 50's. He was killed in our driveway when a jack slipped and the car crushed him...a 51 Hudson. He was in a hurry to do a clutch adjustment before the race that night and he knew better. It was 1958, I was 7 years old and will always remember that tragedy and the lesson it taught me.

I use a floor jack and jack stands. No problem.
