First Post - First Vette (Maybe)
I've found a white 2011 Grand Sport 3LT at a Chevy Dealer about 300 miles from me. Black and tan interior. 35,574 miles on it. They are asking 35,969 plus a ridiculous 1K dealer "fee". I'm trading in a 2012 SS camaro that they are lowballing me on but out the door I'm looking at 34,905.61. Even with them killing my trade I'm still finding this deal to be about 1K to 500 bucks better than anything I'm finding in the local Tampa area. Clean carfax and its certified pre owned. I'm close to pulling the trigger. Any suggestions? Seem like a good deal? Sorry if this needs to be in a different area of the forum.

Only you can answer if the car (white 2011 Grand Sport 3LT) is the car you want.
Having said that, I'm curious...are you saying you are getting a $36, 969 car for $34,905 (including tax/license of maybe $4500) PLUS giving them your 2012 SS?.
Is it a true CPO car? I would get the carfax, ask the dealer to print the GMVIS report, and as the dealer to call the original owner and give him your number and ask him to call.
In my area that car would have an asking price of $33-35,000 so their $35,969 plus $1000 (add-on cuz they can) is a tad on the high side. But, if you are going to own the car for, say 4 years, an extra $2000 is only $40/month...

In Maine...EVERYBODY pays what new car dealers call their Doc Fee which is usually $499 + - . The dealer has no choice (new or used, car, motorcycle, tractor dealers, etc.). Maybe they discount the car that much to make the difference up, but they have to show a line item for $499.00 doc fee on every deal.
IF THEY DON'T, then the law states they must reimburse all previous customers for the $499 they paid and you know they won't do that. They only have to skip one customer for that to trigger.
If a dealer sells 100 cars a month...wow, add that up! 100 cars times $499 times 12 mos, times 5 years they've been doing this === $2,994,000!!!! There's a lot at stake for dealers if they mess up just once!

The deal on the new vehicle is solid.
I'd take the trade-in to CarMax to access a fair trade in value.
Good Luck!

Anyone here work for a dealership that can run the vin for recalls, warranty work, etc.? I'd rather get it from an independent source than the dealer selling the car.

They can print it right from the Service Desk. I would especially get it from them so they know you're on top of things. They can email it or fax it to you. When you get there, ask them for the originals for your records if it makes you feel better.

It's instant.
It won't however show service/maintenance for that vehicle unless it was done at that dealer. Warranty work can be pulled from any GM dealer.

Race Car Tech
It shows you the maintenance records while under warranty or anything done at any GM service department.
It shows you the recalls completed, and ones that are still outstanding.
It will give you all the options for the vehicle, and the record of ownership from the time it's new.
If you want, PM me with the Vin #, and I can get a VIS Report for you from my buddy that a Tech at a GM dealership, but it will be no different than one from your local dealership.
Sounds like a good deal. It's a 3LT, so all options, which is really nice to have.
Good Luck

A quick search on autotrader resulted in 160 GS Corvettes in the $30-40,000 range...

After you finally figure out all this math and stuff.....be sure you are gonna be happy with what ever color you choose cause you are gonna have to look at it all the time. Don't settle on a color that you won't be happy with just cause you think its a good deal.

Everyone has a better deal for you, but............. are you happy with your deal? Do you want THAT car? If you are happy, then go for it. Time waits for no one.
