Default Battery Tender External Receptacle- Opinions?

I will be installing a BMW type 12 volt waterproof receptacle on my 2010 GS, the question is where I should mount it.

Here is the receptacle & plug-

I am not interested in using alligator clips to connect my CTEK charger to the battery or the under hood connections.

These are the 3 options that I am considering-

1 - install the receptacle right above the battery box on the rear wall of storage/trunk area. With the tail light out it's easy to access the entire area to install the receptacle. Using this location would mean that the electrical cable would have the rear hatch closed over it.

2 - Install the receptacle in the most forward portion of the lower valance between the exhausts. Easy to do but noticeable. Location 1 in the pic below.

3 - Install the receptacle in one lower valances behind a rear wheel- Location 2 in the pic below.

Ideally I would like it to be easy to get to but unnoticed, so I'm leaning towards a Location 2 behind the right rear tire.

Opinions or recommendations?

Thanks

I have the rear battery also but installed the ring terminal quick connect adaptor provided by CTEK at the electrical center under the hood. I just open the hood, plug the tender in and close but not latch the hood (hood could be latched if needed).

Your ideas are cleaver but would increase my chances of forgetting/not noticing the cord and driving away with tender attached.

I just use the receptical in the center console and run the wire out through the channel in the door. Works great! ... and I never forget to unplug it before I drive off.

I'm probably going to install it at location 2 behind the right wheel as it's the easiest place to install it.

I think that once I start hooking it up it will become procedure to always look, but I could also make a reminder card to set on the instrument cluster.

For me an easy connection makes it more likely that I will use it all of the time.

Like to see a few pictures of your installation when done. Good idea.

I'd do the number 2 location. It might get a little too hot between the mufflers. Not sure if you would have room, but above the licence plate next to the key release could work with a different style of connector.

Why don't you run the cord to the cigarette lighter, plug it in and close the door? It seems like you are altering so much, I'm not the brightest guy, but won't the outlet be exposed to the elements, water, stones etc and having to lay on the floor to plug it in? Just a thought before you alter the car...

I have magnetic connections on both of my C6s and never had an issue. Quick and easy and if I forget to unplug, they just fall off - no harm done. Both are connected to the electrical system under the hood at the fuse box and the access is at the front grill.

Could get one of those auto-eject shoreline power devices. Though you'd have to mount your inverter on the car itself.

One of the best little mods I have done.
