Black out rims on yellow c6?
I have the standard 5 spoke wheels on my 2010 base C6. I'm thinking of painting them black. Just wanted some opinions on whether you guys think it would look tacky or nice...

"Your car, your choice".
If you want the "temporary" look, Plastic-Dip your wheels. You can decide if you like the look or remove without the cost of painting wheels.
That being said, here are some posts with black wheels on Velocity Yellow / Millennium Yellow C6:

You are going to get replies that "Chrome is nice, Black wheels are tacky" or "Black wheels are nice, Chrome is tacky".

I think that a yellow car is one of the only ones that black wheels look good on.

I have powder coated the Oem painted rims (2013). They had to blast them a little they told me to give the powder coat something to hold on to.
I would suspect the same would be true for chrome wheels.

Well I'm gonna give it a go tomorrow. I'm just gonna give them a real good cleaning and then do a pre layer to give the dip a nice surface to bond to. Then do multiple players until it's perfect. I'll be sure to post pics!

I was told by more them one source, that if you are going to paint your chrome wheels that they need a prep first and that is more them a simple cleaning. They need to be scored so the paint will attach this can be done with a lot of steel wool or sanding with a fine grit paper.
A powder coat needs the same, but that is normally done by the Powder coater prior to applying the powder coating.
The PlactiDip will give you an idea, but in no way will it look like a properly pained or powder coated wheel when finished.

YouTube will show you plenty, Fonzie does just about every combination you could conceive of with expert instruction.
They have really expanded their market of products.
Or go you Dipyourcar.com

I would double check with PlastiDip they can tell you if it will or what prep is needed. I also suggest that you get there Glossifier. I have seem wheels that received the flat black dip and IMO it just does not look good.
