Best tires for 2010 Grand Sport
I have 6 thousand miles on my Bette and it needs tires already, brutal! I do not do burn outs, I do get on it here and there but just surprised at how fast the tread had gone from factor tires.
What would you recommend for replacement tires, thanks Scott

It's awfully difficult to beat Michelin Pilot Super Sports when thinking of performance tire replacement.
By the way, is there any warranty on your exisitng tires? 6K miles, no reported "burnouts".........something is very wrong with the set you have. You might want to have a (Goodyear?) dealer take a look before you "drop" $$ into another set !!
Good luck,
Gary

15000 miles on my rear GYs that came on it...2012. The fronts were replaced at 4000 miles because of a defect in the tire so that put the tires out of sync. I am thinking at 18000 or so the rears will need to be changed out. I am going to switch to Michelins, and have decided on the Super Sports. Non runflats but that does not bother me, I have a nice little air pump and tire plug kit when I travel on trips and of course AAA. They say the SS will give a better ride, have a higher wear number which should related to higher mileage wear. Rated at 30,000 mile warranty you have to cut that in half because you cannot rotate the tires. I figure if I can get 18000 plus from the crap Goodyears I should easily get into the high 20's before needing to be replaced. A side note, I have tracked my car on a roadcourse a couple of times and also spent the day at the drags with it...I do not do burn outs on the street but the car is not a garage queen by any stretch of the imagination. Michelins to me are the way to go.

Is it possible the wife is sneaking out in the middle of the night and doing burnouts? 6000 miles is crazy. The original Goodyears don't last very long, but you should be able to get at least 11 or 12K. How are the fronts compared to the rears? It sounds like you might have another issue (?).

While GY's are not the favored tire I would look at wear patterns...as in alignment, tire pressure, etc. Most folks with a GS opt for a less aggressive alignment...such as pfadt street specs.
Having said that, you need to first decide between run flats and non run flats.
I have Bstone poles on my '11 GS and am very happy with them.

Thanks for the replies, as far as setup = factory, every year do service and they rotate, guessing they would hit me up I'd alignment looked to be an issue. Will certainly contact a local Goodyear person and see what they say, they have no mileage warranty. Thanks again, Scott

With 275/35/18's on the front and 325/30/19's on the rear (plus the tires are directional) they are not rotating your tires.
Get down on the floor and look across the tread face of all four tires and see if they have even wear.

Ok, that is fair, I understand they do not rotate but guessing they move from side to side. I have looked at them, I have not analyzed all four tires but when I have looked they seem to have worn even and they are just down close to zero tread. Don't you think if they had some bizarre pattern the service people would be selling me an aliment. I know assuming is not good but they are all out to make money.

Now you know the tires can't be rotated front to back. Because the tires are directional (must turn in one direction only) the only way to swap side to side is to demount and remount (think about it).
I won't go into "assume", but I'll just say "rub your hand across the tread face" to see what they are really like. If they are smooth and flat (but getting bald) I would go to a Goodyear dealer and argue for some $$$.

Since he's mentioned the tires are the OEM GYs on a '10 GS, I'm guessing that you can't do a swap side-to-side, even with a remount. The OEM GY Supercar F1 Gen:2 tires are position specific, since they have both a rotation direction and an inside/outside tread designation. The OEM GY GS tires are unique on each corner of the car!

i have got just over 21,000 on my original GY runflats, I think I can get another 6-7,000 out of them. Anyway I am looking at the Bridgstone RunfLats as my next tire.
I was going to go with the Michele Super Sports non-runflat, but I got a flat last a few weeks ago and was able to drive 8 miles with no air them and they were able to plug/patch it and I am still driving on with no problem. So that changed my mind, to stick with the run flats.
I did have a pump with me, but the hole was to big, I am really surprised they were able to fix it.

Find a Goodyear dealer that also carries the alternate brand tire you want to replace these with. Then, make a case with them that your original tires should be replaced at no charge, or at least a very positive pro-rated charge. Then, tell them you want to apply the replacement value to the other tire brand available at their store. They will be more likely to make a deal with you than if you just go to a Goodyear dealer and complain about the tire wear.

2012 gs not quite 15k same bridgestone as above. Not raced, but have to break the ca speed limit in left lane at times or get rear ended. But more than not avg freeway speed 70 or a lot less

I've sworn by Bridgestone Pole Position RFs, put over 30k on ech set, but I just put Cooer Zeons nonRFs on it Saturday. They are noisy, but I have not pushed them, you need to put about 250 miles or so on any new tire before you test it out.
Once I break them in, I'll report back out here. So far, I've daily driven through the life of the tires - the original GY GEN1's and Gen2's, Michelin and Bridgestone RFs and now the Coopers. I'll report more as I daily drive them this winter.
So far, without testing the Coopers, I like the Bridgestone PP RFs best.
