Why does it seem like no good C6 for sale in California
I watch the classified daily and seems like nobody in California sells their cars? Am I looking in the wrong place?
Thanks

I don't think the classifieds are the best place. Check Autotrader and similar sites and Craigslist. Autotrader allows you to specify your needs for your search. If you have very specific criteria expand your search. I found mine over 400 miles away, but I had specific wants and I live in a very small town. I would think that there are many great C6s in Cali.

I too live in Calif. and I also had trouble finding a 2011 GS last spring. I finally found what I wanted in Michigan and had it shipped here. I'm very happy I went after what I wanted. Before that, in spring 2008 I went on Ebay and found a c-6 in New Mexico and went and drove that one back.

Angelyne just got a C7, so her pink C6 must be for sale.
It'd be a celebrity car, so you might get it for less.
You'll have to look here, since it won't display direct.

Also a word of caution --- I ran into a situation with West Coast Corvette ....
(short version )
they were advertising corvettes that had been sold and yet when I called, they said they were still for sale.
I went in like a fool to their place cash/check in hand only to discover all three corvettes I wanted to buy were sold a week to months before I arrived.

Carmax is always the first place I look when buying. I've had great experiences from them on my last 3 vehicles. Conversely when I go to sell a vehicle, I always go with Autotrader. The classifieds never entered my mind from either direction.

The problem with Carmax is that the price is fixed (and usually high), and since they are a dealer, you have to pay full sales tax. A private seller will usually agree to declare the sale at a lower price to save the buyer some tax. And since there is no trade-in tax credit in CA, to me it makes no sense to buy a car from Carmax. For example, there is the exact car I'm looking for at a nearby (90 miles away) Carmax, but their price of $29,000 is already above the car's real value, and then I would have to pay another three grand on top of that, so I would have to be stupid to buy it and take an immediate loss in value of $4000-5000 when I drive off the lot.

Like all states, California surely has its drawbacks, but I'm proud that it has been such an innovator in legislation that the other states seem to have been unwilling or unable to enact until they see how well it works here. Trendsetters are often the target of naysayers.

I found my 2011 Torch Red 3LT base A6 on Craigs list. It was about 2 hours away. I searched for 5 months before I found what I wanted. I mostly used Aototrader and Craigs list for my search. Keep looking, your car is out there.
