Another Integra called me out, LOL.
He has basic bolt-ons and some head work. It's a GSR. He said that he can keep up with tubroed cars, most likely stock EVO's LOL. I attached a picture. What a joke.

He has no chance.

True lol. He's a young buck. Told him when he's running 12's, we'll take it to the track. He had the nerve to say that the "street racing" is a different story lol.

I've meet a lot of imports that wants to roll around 40mph. I get that they want to down shift into the power band. I can too. If I should ever run this joker, I may take him for a ride after I dust crop him. My car is a bone stock LS3 A6 NPP. I think I'll make it a cat and mouse race. I'll be the cat.

95 out of 100 runs you should win without a problem, espeically from a dig then make it 99 out of 100.
If you fall asleep on the go and he has enough work to hit 13s (not too unreasonable) it could be close but still heavily in your favor.
Either way, you should be more than fine as he looks primarily naturally aspirated from that photo.
Easy win.

I'm a horrible stick driver. I have no idea how guys in M6 get races from a dig. The first two gears are impossible to get traction and shift. So if I'm on the highway, someone wants to play, do I downshift to 3rd? Would that be bad for my tranny? I'm serious, I'm not good at this stuff. My last vette and every car I've had was an auto.

Watching too many "Fast and Stupid" movies. If I had a Honda for every pimple-faced Honda-Boy who thought he could take me, I could open up my own junk-yard.

You just have to start looking at your rpms in each gear and see what they are given the mph you are at. You will then see where the power band starts in each gear and then you will know if you want to get aggressive, which gear you need to be in at that speed. Each gear has a rpm vs mph range that you should get familiar with. You don't want to downshift and be at 5,000 rpms, and you don't want to be at 2,500 rpms either...lol. Find the sweet spot for each gear and check the speed.
But as Nosferatu mentioned, you want to rev match. Don't let your rpms drop and then downshift, just blip the throttle before you let out the clutch...and then floor it. Takes a little practice, but it's all about timing. You can always practice on roads with little or no traffic.

Anyway, to the OP, no it's not going to hurt your trans & what nosferatu is saying by rev matching is to blip the throttle a bit while you are down shifting, in order to get the engine rpm's up to about where they are going to be after the downshift occurs. Doesn't have to be exact, but close. If you are a bit low on your estimation of how many rpm's then you will decelerate a bit (engine braking). If you are a bit high on your estimate, it will cause a bit of acceleration & when fully engaged into gear, mash the throttle & away you go sir!

That Honda is a joke. I got a friend with an 05 STI that wants to roll. He knows he'll lose but wants to know where he stands, I respect that.
