ls2 or ls3
while looking for another vette iv been watching 2, 1 a 2007 ls2 m6 with full exhaust intake and a tune and the other is a 09 ls3 a6 bone stock, which would you choose and why? is that 30 hp something to go for? iv seen people not liking the 08 and up vettes because of more issues and things. theres about 1300 difference in price too

The obvious....it's an evolutionary upgrade. Resale value, too. Not sure where you read there are more issues with the '08s and up. Even the cars are upgraded every year. The later model you can buy, the better. Simple.

I saw that thread, made no sense to me. While my 07 has been a great car, I'm sure the newer ones are also. Do not put any stock into 08 and up having more problems, not true. Do they have some issues? Yes as did 05 to 07.

You'll find that most people will always advise you to buy the very latest model year you can afford.
Each new year brings improvements, refinements, and enhancements.
The 30hp you mention is just one of many, many improvements between the '07, and the '09.
Read for yourself....

I knew you were kidding, yes. And I just now found how to add emoticons from my Nexus.

That said, Apple to apples (which I'm qualified to say), the LS3 is an amazing engine.
Still nothing wrong with the "05.

First off I am not sure that the '08's and up had more issue due to the financial tailspin we had and the low numbers of Corvette's sold in that time period. But with that said, it comes down to what you want, Color, options, mileage and so on. I can tell you this the '07 is putting out more HP then the '08 due to the full exhaust and with that I assume you mean long tubs hi-flo cats or catted x-pipe and cat backs. If you only mean Cat backs, with a tune a good tune that is it is most likely equal to or a little above.
In reality the LS was SEA rated at 408 hp, but GM did not wanted to go on the market in '05 rated at a higher rating then the 2004 Z06. They were concerned that the buyers of the '04 Z06 might be upset if they knew that a base C6 had more HP then them. So you ca see that a good set of headers low restriction exhaust on back and a good tune would put you above the 430 of a stock LS3. I know this because I have an "07 with CAI, ARH hi-flo cats and exhaust and a tune. I have run a few C7 Sting rays and they do not walk away and a stock LS3 is easy to beat.

You really need to decide what you must have in your Vette. As for myself, I had to have a 3lt, vert, low miles (15k or less. I refuse to buy anything with higher miles), A/T, in "as new" condition, in the price range and color I wanted. The Vettes that did not meet the above list, I never considered.
The things that I didn't care about either way: LS3/LS2, HP, year, or WB. I could have lived with or without these and would have been happy.
I had it down to a few choices. There were few 08 and over that I eventually passed on. After all the months and test drives, I ended up with my 05 because of the above list and it also had about 10k worth of aftermarket appearance MODs that I would have added on my own.
I searched for about 8 months before I found the one that fit.

We are on our second C6.
First was a 2006 Coupe, Z51, A6, 3LT trim.
Second was our current 2009, absolutely identical (even the color) except for the year.
Both have had endless minor problems, just like all our other GM cars. No difference there.
But the 2009 feels way faster, A6 blips for downshifts, steering is lighter and more precise, etc. It's a totally different car. A huge improvement.

You are asking us to choose between a manual and auto tranny also? Which one would you rather drive, since it will be your car? Drive them both and make the decision. It sounds like a win, win to me. Good luck and enjoy which ever one you choose.
