And my point is that GM has sucked (as a company) for many years, they didn't just start sucking in 2008 right before going into C11. That took years of poor management, and they were in desperation mode for several years as well. They were cost cutting just as much during development of the C6 as they were in 08.

My generous description of "good company" applied to them before they joined our law breaking president and screwed their investors. That may not mean as much to you at your age but someday it will.
Not all bond holders were rich and greedy as described by Obama.

Until I bought my 2005 in 2014, I hadn't owned a GM product since the 1977 Caprice I bought new. After 2009, as I said before, I committed never to buy another GM or Chrysler product.
Since I had wanted a Corvette most of my life, and the C6 styling is my favorite of all generations, I broke my commitment and bought it. 2005 was before they harmed so many retirees.
That may sound like convoluted reasoning but it works for me.

Honestly, I would not buy any GM product right now either. Partially due to your reasoning, but mostly due to their quality, or lack thereof.

Your reasoning is sound, but does not really apply to the flawed logic behind the 05-07 being of higher quality than 08+ C6s .

Honestly, they are all built equally cheap. But I bought it because it looks good and is fun to drive. Certainly not for it's build quality.

about the looks and fun to drive. I really don't have a problem with quality. I was expecting lots of creaks, squeaks and rattles but mine is very tight. No noises from the removable top, etc.

By the way, I'm used to friendly debates with people your age. My oldest daughter is older than you and my youngest daughter is one year younger.

So, you must be the original Batman from the comic book days then huh?

Now that's funny!

My C6 is the best GM product I've ever owned. My '74 L-82 on the other hand was a squeaking rattling nightmare until I spent a few days tightening everything up. Even then when I hit a big bump - and there's LOTS of those in Maine - everything seemed to move is a different direction, all the parts making noise. Closing the doors with people around used to embarrass me they made so much noise.

The only thing I hear going down even a rough road in my C6 is the highway song of the Goodyear runcraps.

Come to think of it, I may have all kinds of chassis noise but I can't hear over the roar of the tires.

Lack of creaks and noises is not the only indicator of build quality.

The only rattle/creak in my car is the targa top. I suppose you are going to tell me that is due to it being a 2008 and not 05-07?

There is a reason the Corvette is widely known as the best "performance value" out there. Because it is built cheap...it's a Chevy. Heck, it even shares it's steering wheel with the Cobalt (in most C6's).

There were some fixes for creaking tops and I don't know if my '07 had them done before I bought it last year, but the car does not creak, rattle, or make any other noises aside from the RF Michelins.

Although I don't know if this has ever been a problem with C6s or not (never seen it mentioned here) but the top does not leak a drop either.

Not sure, but I am guessing the creaking targa top issue is more prevalent in Z51's due to the much stiffer suspension.

The targa top doesn't make noise on my 05 Z51 so it's not the suspension. The only logical explanation is that it's an 05 and not an 08.

Yeah, that must be it. I am sure they saved $$$BILLIONS by going with pins that were .02 cheaper from China.

Actually, it's more likely because your wimpy LS2 is so weak, the chassis sees no torque load.

I do have a friend with an 09 and his noisy top drives him crazy. I think I'll stick with the 05-07 and not 30 less horse power.
BTW, are you a stand up comedian?

Hey Bat Buddy:

Tell him to search this forum (or you can) for the fixes to a creaking top.

Not the ~only~ indicator, but an awfully good one.

Don't be so self-conscience about your car being an '08. They're still good cars.

My targa top makes no noise at all and it's removed and reinstalled almost daily. And I drive on third-world roads most of the time. But then I've got one of those 'inferior' 05's.

Please tell me you don't seriously think there is one bit of a difference between your targa top and mine. Because if you do...well, then like I said. Whatver makes you sleep better at night.

No worries, 36hp isn't THAT much. Only about 8%
Not to mention your INFERIOR transmission.

You're wasting your time. Give up.
You'll never change the thinking of those 2 guys.

They're convinced the 2005 was the best C6 made. Nothing more to be said.

yeah, GM was so cash strapped in 2008, they cost cut every penny they could. That is why they axed the mighty 6.0L LS2 and went to the inferior 6.2L LS3, put in a cheaper manual transmission and cheaper suspension, among several other downgrades.

Come on David, like I said before, the shoddy workmanship and cheap parts showed up in the years after 08 and 09 in the JD Power reports. Oh wait, they didn't.......
