Default How to do a search?

Good day everyone, I have been on and off this forum for quite some time. I am usually on when I own a vet or doing some mods for someone. Well I am back as an owner. I know often people who have been regulars here sometimes get annoyed when guys ask questions about things that have probably been discussed 100+ time and is posted somewhere on this great forum. Well I am not against using the search but as of late have not had great success using it. For example I put in the search "How to do a search" I got back quite a few result but 99% of them had nothing to do with how to do a search. Even in the advanced search I Haven't been able to get the result I would expect. SO if anyone has any insight I would appreciate it and would be less likely to ask questions that have already been discussed.

Always use the Advanced Search. The local Search option does take some getting used to. The fewer words or letters you're searching for, the better.

Most of that information for the advanced search I was aware of except the for the archive button. If you use quotation in the search box can you get a better search or does that make the search look for this word with quotes?

Search on google, it will find hits on this forum as well as others. This is the fastest way I found.

I have better luck using Google than I do with the search function on this forum.

Just google it. 9 times out of 10, google search results will lead right back to a post on this forum. Bonus points, because Google search actually works.

I applaud your efforts to find the answers you seek on your own.

However, I would not hesitate to pose even the dumbest, most obvious question you have on C6 General.

You may get some snide remarks (easy to ignore) but you will, in most cases, get the information you are looking for.

Welcome back.

The native search function here is very close to the definition of worthless. If you search for "tail pipe" you will get every thread that has the word tail OR pipe and there is no way to search for phrases. And you will get threads that have neither word anywhere in them!

Google knows how to do searches. Like reading the C6 owner's manual, or using the factory nav, few people learn how to use all the features of Google - https://support.google.com/websearch.../2466433?hl=en

And if you have a specific time period you are looking for you can click on "search tools" after the results come up. You can even look for pictures that match one you have, such as, when someone posts a picture of "their" car you can find the original site they stole that picture from.

I don't post often, but I must say that the search function on this forum is almost useless. Especially in the For Sale Section. Looking for a part? How about a full list of every possible vendor selling something. Other than that, you just have to find a way to reword everything multiple ways.
