Sounds familiar. While getting out of my car with ink pen in hand, the salesguy drug the pen across my Titanium console. No amount of cleaning would get it completely off. He had to have it dyed, which took care of the mark. Been five years, and you still can't see where it was dyed. Good luck.

While it might not help this time, you should consider keeping this on hand:

(for protected, finished, and coated leather like in most OEM automobiles)

Check with your used car dealer. He should have people who stop by and do repairs like that. If you have a good relationship, he will set you up.

No question - it'll have to be redyed. My company here in Atlanta does that kind of repair at quite a few high-line dealers, so someone should be able to do it in NC.

Good answer from someone in the business of fixing ink spotted interiors. While hairspray is definitely not a fix all....it works better than "usually not". Esp. if you can get it early. For future references, what finish is on most seats that gets "compromised" in this type of situation....other than stuff like Scotch-Guard...etc.

I did something similar on my light titanium drivers seat upper when the car was a couple months old. Drove met nuts especially since I did it myself as careful as I usually am. Although a more costlier proposition, I wound up getting left and right seat upper covers with the the embroidered flags on them (originals didn't have) on a heck of a sale (same price as one plain) seat back and replaced them myself. You may want to look into that option. The light titanium seems to be sensitive to attracting marks. Some blue jeans and belts seem to leave marks.

However, manufacturers do apply a protective coating to the leather after finishing - think clear coat on body paint. I have to remove it before I dye or refinish leather or the dye won't penetrate the surface. Then I apply my own protective coating.
