Default side pipes

I was thinking about my old 1969 Stingray 427 with side pipes, and I was wondering why no one has designed side pipes for a C6?
Am I old school, or would anyone else like to have some modern looking side pipes on their C6? :rock

I don't really think they would look very good on a C6.

They would have to be a more modern design i think. The Viper has side pipes, they are just covered.

Side pipes look great on a C3 but not so much on a C6 IMO. I guess most others feel the same or we would see more of them.

But your passengers or other drivers of your car might not be that aware of them.

I didn't think it was legal to add them unless they came on the car from the factory. (excludes classics and historical licensed cars) I don't think they'd pass emission inspection anyway.

Emissions inspections are at the very least, a state issue, and I've recently learned, a county issue. For 22 years, I thought that all of Maryland has testing for emissions, but no, only some or most of the counties do. Many counties that are considered farm do not. Makes me want to move to St. Mary's county.

Pa. also has some rural counties exempt from emission inspections. I'm not in one of those counties and it slipped my mind.

I remember burning mine and I don't consider myself careless. I can also tell you that those old polyester pants with the bell bottoms would get against the pipes and they would melt real fast

Right after you tell them how to get out of the car in the event of an electrical failure mention the side pipes...

I had side mount headers on my '59 vette and my '65 big block coupe. I had factory side mounts on a couple mid-years. I loved them and would have them on my '11 GS if possible!

I don't really think they are meant to be on a C6... That's just my opinion.

The C2 OEM side pipes covers don't get hot enough to burn anything. Folks must be thinking about motorcycle pipes when they imagine getting burned from side pipes.

Oh, yeah and side pipes on a C6 would look stupid.
