Default So pleased with my C6

First real road trip in my C6 vert. From my home in Nova Scotia to Cape Cod. Hit 100 MPH for the first time to get out of a jam. Handled like a dream. Jeeze......what a car.

It does indeed get there quickly. So much so, that I found I really needed to use cruise control most of the time.
One little quirk I noticed; being from Canada I have been using the metric settings and I noticed that the HUD speed was a few kilometers lower than the speedometer. My Garmen seemed to agree with the HUD. Its a US car built for the US market so the speedometer tops out at 200 rather than the possible 300 kph. When I crossed the border I switched to the American units and everything seems to agree with one another. Even if there is an error because of the conversion, why does the HUD differ from the speedometer? Also, can anyone tell me if the HUD will read beyond 200 in kph? Don't think I am ready to test it practically.

^^ Congrats on the road trip. The C6 is a great highway cruiser for sure. We did Cape Cod (Martha's Vineyard) trip back in 2010 on our way back from Columbus OH and the Memorial Golf tournament.
I can't tell you who did it, but the HUD will show above 200 kmph
I've been told that's objects on the side of the road go by very quickly at that speed.
Our longest trip was from Atlantic Canada to Key West and back. Three weeks 4500 miles of ear to ear grins from both the wife and me.

Our 2010 and the 2000 we had previously, both HUD read one mph slower than the DIC & speedometer. If the DIC says "cruise set at 73 mph", the HUD reads 72.

My Garmin always says I am going one mph over what I have cruise set on. That usually puts me 6 mph over the speed limit but, if stopped, I plan on going with the "cruise control setting" defense with the cop in hopes of the benefit of the doubt.

The HUD on my '07 is the same. One mph slower. I thought it was just mine until now.

Sounds like a great trip. They are fantastic cars, you'll run out of road (or *****) well before you run out of car.

My HUD also reads 1 mph/kmph slower than the cruise. But it will hit the set number and settle back. It will hit the set number many times but mostly stay at 1 below. I am thinking thats a safety feature because it rarely exceeds the set number.

If you read around on the forum the reason for this is the HUD does not "round up". If you're doing between 49 and 49.999mph the HUD will say 49. The DIC reading and speedo reading are accurate.

If you set the cruise to 49 and you're doing 49.0mph the HUD will say 49. If you're doing 49.5 and hit cruise it'll say 50 (because it rounds up as does your speedo).

That's the reason it's not that it's inaccurate, it just doesn't follow basic rounding rules (>.5 read 1 MPH higher).

Hope this helps

...and for fun yes the speeds get up quickly especially in third gear

Hey Nosf, I wonder if the motor officer would buy that as an excuse for going 85mph in a 75mph zone, ya think
