Default Buying new engine

So I got the wonderful news this week that my motor is dunzo. I have a few options and would appreciate some advise.

Car is a 07 z51 m6, I have intake headers and exhaust. Blown motor is a ls2 heads/cam package

Option1: rebuild, approx $8500 depending on how bad internal damage is.
Option2: 0 mile ls3 with cam, $9900 installed
Option3: 30k miles ls2 with some upgrades, fast 102, heads/cam, forged Pistons ect. $9000

I am leaning towards option 3 but let me know what u think guys!!!

I'd go with the new engine. I love the LS2, but new is new.

Given these options only... I would also go with #2.

No. 2, IMHO the LS3 is pretty much bullet proof.

The words on here have been when you modify, you tend to decrease reliability/longevity. For that reason, #2.

I can't tell you what YOU should do, but when mine needed replacing on my '05, I replaced it with an LS3 crate engine and a beefier radiator. I didn't think that spending almost the same amount of $ to rebuild the LS2 made much sense when I could get a brand-new LS3.

I'm so glad I got the LS3; it's a significantly better engine, IMO. I haven't looked back.

The LS3 block is structurally stronger. Option #2

What was the cause of the failure?

I can't see any real sane choice except 2.

Not exactly sure just yet, shop thinks maybe water in the motor. I live in Texas and we had 24 out of 31 days of rain last month...so for insurance sake I'm praying that's the cause.

This, then, is not a rational decision but one of passion. So you need to go with that passion rather than what's the most rational which is all we can suggest because your passion is yours alone.

Go 3 if that's where your heart leads. Else you'll never be happy.

Option #2 with those available choices. I would personally go with option #4 - get an LS7. They're bulletproof
