Default B&B Fusion review

First, love the Fusion on my 2007 C6 6sp Vert!

In open mode the sound is loud but not obnoxious. Deep, throaty sound. In closed mode it is louder than stock, but not by much. I leave it open 98% of the time.

Does it drone?

Yes, in open mode, any time the revs are below 2,000 and there is a load on the engine. In 6th gear on the highway, the drone is unbearable. The solution is only a button push away, push the button, drone gone! Another solution is to shift into 5th with revs above 2,000. This is what I do on short highway trips. I am not a fan of the systems that attenuate the lower decibels to reduce drone. A button push is a better solution.

Hate the popping in open mode, no popping in closed.

I also installed the VaraRam intake. I am hoping a tune can help with the popping and they promise 15-20 hp plus more torque.

I will report on my tune experience.

I've been debating on whether I should replace my Borla Stingers with these. I have a cam and headers and the car is plenty loud. I'm wondering if the Fusion closed will still be just as loud as my Borla set up now. And then obviously louder when open. If closed is equal to my Borlas then there's no point because all I could do is go louder. But if the closed Fusion is quieter than my Borlas but still have an aggressive rumble, it might be worth it. I'm also worried that once the novelty of the open/closed option wears off I'll wind up leaving it open all of the time, like most seem to do, and it would have been a waste of money.

Knives, I know what you mean. I have not taken a long trip yet, but if I did not have the closed option, 6th gear would never be used. That said, how much more fuel do we use cruising in 5th?

Not familiar with Borla Stingers, but i can tell you the difference in closed and open mode is significant.

My current girlfriend loves the rumble. The next one may not.

Default Fusions

I've had my Fusions for about 4 years now. I absolutely love them.

I have the Bullet's on my car and just purchased the Fusions, around town i love the Bullet exhaust, but on long trips they get excessive especially the drone, main reason for switching to the Fusions. Hoping i made the right move i will know after the install, hopefully in the wild mode the car has it's similiar tone as the Bullets and the mean gurgle on decel. I'm keeping the Bullet exhaust until i'm completely satisfied with the new Fusions. If i don't like the Fusions someone will get a good deal on a brand new Fusion exhaust.

I'm not too far from your location so I'll be keeping an eye out for a FS thread.

I've had the Fusions for 5 years. Love everything about 'em.

Love the popping.
Love the idle sound.
Love the WOT sound.
Love the fact I can hit the M2W switch and turn off drone up a 3 mile long uphill grade at 65 mph and hear silence, then switch back loud in town.

I think it's the absolute best exhaust for a C6.

Default Happy With Fusions

My car is a 2005 with the LS2 and MT. I have had the B&Bs for 8 years. I use the OPEN mode most of the time but like the ability to be "quiet" when talking with my passenger or listening to the radio without blasting it. Also love the gurgle. Love the B&Bs.

Did anyone go from NPP to the B&Bs?

How do they compare?

I had the Fusion on my 05 and again put it on my 12 GS CE. I pretty much leave it open, but it sure is nice to be able to close the valves.. Especially so when on a long trip or when I have a passenger and wanting to have a conversation. I made a custom switch panel for mine

Don't want to go off topic here, but the Aux is used to turn off the power to the usb adapter in the lighter socket. I'm going to make another panel w three switches and use one for LED accent lighting for car shows and evening meets.

And back to our scheduled exhaust topic....

I love my fusion ovals In black ceramic!

Default From Route 66 to Fusion

Just a couple of months ago I removed the Route 66 mufflers that had been on my car for years (terrible drone from 1500 to 1800 rpm in any gear) and put on the new Fusions, which I understand have smaller mufflers than the older Fusion.

No drone in the quiet mode, but that mode is NOT quiet. Before I put them on, I could see a straight-thru, but convoluted, light path on the so-called quiet side. So I am in the process of fabricating some perforated plugs, similar to the ones in my Honda motorcycle mufflers decades ago, to see if some extra resistance and contorted path will quiet them down some more.

In the quiet mode the new Fusion is MUCH louder than stock. With the stock exhaust I could not hear enough to shift by ear, hence the Route 66.

Yes, I bought the new 2010 GS with NPP exhaust. I pulled the fuse at the dealership before I ever drove it home.

Got home and my wife says... "This car needs EXHAUST!"

Not being the kind of guy to argue, of course I said... "Yes Ma'am".

The Fusions are "slightly" louder than stock with valves closed.

MUCH louder with valves open.

Actually, almost as loud as Bullets, maybe 1-2 decibels less than Bullets, but pretty dang loud.

I just posted a long review on that just earlier this month...with videos

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ideo-pics.html

TL : DR --> deep and louder at low RPMs and idle. NPP a tad louder at high RPMs (but not nearly as aggressive sounding). This is a catless PFADT LT setup attached to it with supercharger
