Good for you, Robert! You were one of the best with old school work ethics. Now it is 'ROBERT TIME!'

This post is for those who stop in here who may also want to see some of the sights from the museum and lighthouse and light ship tours we did this past weekend.
Really hoping that posting the link to the Google photos may work.

OK, here are some of the pictures from the retirement luncheon as well as a picture showing the layout of the facility.
I worked in this location since 2015, we were the first ones in after renovation as it was a manufacturing plant back in the day which made GM 9.5" and 10.5" rear axles.
The luncheon was held in the "Product Showroom & Benchmarking" area, which at one time was a forging area where axle shafts were produced.
All production left in the 2008 and 2009 timeframe out to our Three Rivers, Michigan manufacturing facility.

At work, it started where they called me Bob, until those who became more than work associates would call me Robert, which is what I preferred.
Told them that it didn't matter to me, I was called worse things by better people!
The big Corvette artwork came from a small group, 3 technicians and an engineer who do all of our Advanced Engineering vehicle builds. We have all worked together since their first days on the job, and all are what I could consider friends too.

Robert,

More than well liked it looks and sounds like you were well respected for who you are and what you did. Kind of hard to think of anything better than that to go off with. Congratulations on your making it this far and being able to retire happy and well off.

I think we should make an exception and setup a barcolounger upstairs for you.

There were ups and downs, good times and bad, but you always gave 110% to your fellow workers and the Company. I honestly don't believe there could have been a better man for the job. Congratulations Robert, you have earned a long and happy retirement with family and friends. AAM will hire someone but they will never be able to "replace" you.

Scott

Still worked today, last day of the month, and spent almost all day not only finishing up and setting them up for all things needed through this week so they can have an extra week to try and figure it out on their own.

Artwork was done by an artist chosen by the Marketing Department and is based upon a picture of me our Corvette Club sent them when requested of them.
I didn't know about that until I saw it, and I can explain all the items in the picture if needed.
Thinking it was a show picture when my hair was longer than it currently is?

Just got in, turned in my badge, said all my "Goodbyes" and kind of an emotional roller coaster type of day.
Some pissed me off today due to their stupidity, more work-related issues not so much the good people I worked with, and some sending me best wishes going forward and thanking for all I did while there from locations all over the world.

Now I have a blank page in front of me, planning on doing things around the house that have been put on the backburner for a couple weeks, then end of May driving to Williamsburg, VA for a week to sightsee Colonial America.

After that, time will tell...............................

A few of my friends who are "up the corporate ladder" told me to ignore any pleas for help from those left behind, they were put into positions and should be able to figure it out, and I carried some of them along far too long.

Will miss the good people I worked together with, but will not miss the arrogant, "know everything but never turned a wrench" or have any common sense idiots who seem to have taken some positions in the automotive job market.
