Default little issue/ drivers door

The drivers side door on my 09 coupe has been recently opening with difficulties and today it wouldn't open at all making me crawl to the trunk to pull manual release.
First thing I tried was the pad in the door. I took it apart and cleaned the plates but that did not work. I swapped my passenger door pad to my drivers door to test it and it did not work either. I tried some silicone spray to the column opening (B pillar latch?) and no results either. The red light in the door blinks when I press the button and it used to make clicking noises as if trying to open but not doing that any more, just the red light blinking. So now I am thinking I have to buy a new B pillar latch and that should fix the issue.....or not?

you didn't need to crawl to the trunk - there is an emergency lever at the bottom of the door as well...

Thanks! Can't believe I didn't think of that. That will certainly make getting out a bit easier but I'm still looking for some suggestions!

I assume that your inside and outside buttons both are not working?

Neither outside or inside on the drivers side, but works perfectly on passenger side, which makes me rule out Fob, battery as a cause. Just tried again and the red light comes on and the window moves and I can hear a click like it is trying to open. I wonder if anyone knows the exact name and part number of the B pillar latch and how much costs...
This electronic entry is more PITA than a convenience lol

I just had the same thing happen. I replaced the door latch yesterday and it seems good so far. I can't remember the exact part number but I got mine through the stealership for $240.

240! Jesus that's a lot for a door latch! Was it just for the part or for the labor included?

I went through the same thing. Driver's door became more and more difficult to open. FOB was OK, door pad was OK, finally replaced the lock under warranty and problem was fixed. Your $240 cost sounds about right for parts and labor.
