2008 Z51 A6 Miles per gallon DISAPPOINTING
#21
I think all depends on road surface , wind, and gas quality including other factors like maintenance. I daily drive mine 50 miles to and from work all highway. The EIC thingy says I'm getting about 21 to 22 Miles per gallon going 70-80 mph. I reset my trip and get about 320 up to 360 miles in a full tank of 93 Oct. depending on gas station.

I'm not really amazed that Corvette owners notice their fuel consumption.
I've tracked fuel consumption on almost every car I've owned. When I don't, it's because I'm not the primary driver. Frequently, an inexplicable drop in fuel mileage is an early indicator that a problem is coming. I also like to know what I'm spending for gas, as well as many other things I can determine about the car (and my driving). Since it's easy to do, and doesn't use up much time, there's no reason for me to not do it.
Anyway, to the OP, I've had my 11 Grand Sport A6 for about a year now. From 15 April 2014 through 2 November 2014, I filled up 26 times. My average fuel consumption based on the instrument panel was 24.0 MPG. The actual calculated average fuel mileage was 22.9 MPG.
My five actual BEST results were: 26.6, 25.7, 25.7, 25.0, and 24.9.
My five actual WORST results were: 21.8, 21.0, 20.3, 20.3, and 19.3.
I averaged 162 miles/week over that interval.
I usually run about 70 - 75 MPH on the interstate, and most of the best results reflect trips from Northern Illinois to Bowling Green or south Georgia.
I think your results are perfectly normal and reasonable.

I have an 07 A6 with 63k on it and I can still get over 30 mpg under those conditions all day, but I don't know if it is gear ratio difference.

I've owned several c5 and c6's over the years and what's funny is the best mileage I've got was 32 mpg and that was in my 99 coupe with a magnason blower. None of my other vette's got over 28 mpg

There is a difference between worried and curiosity. Also, if your MPG is way off the mark, it could indicate other issues. In OP's case, he has a Diablo tune he may be concerned about.

There is also the difference between ethanol laced fuel and straight gasoline. Add about 10% for straight gasoline, get a custom tune from your local tuner maximizing fuel mileage and your mileage numbers will increase.

It never ceases to amaze me that individuals buying Corvettes actually are concerned about gas mileage. The rare times I even bothered to check, my '08 coupe was getting in the mid 20s, which I think is outstanding considering that I have my foot in it most of the time; but I don't really care. I just do not understand buying a sports car with a 400 plus horsepower engine and special handling package and then expecting 30 mpg. If I was concerned about miles per gallon, my first consideration when contemplating a new vehicle purchase certainly would not be a Corvette.

I average around 19 (and I only know that cuz it's on the DIC), but I'm typically driving around town. But, heck, I could get 5 MPG and I wouldn't care. I LOVE driving this car. Mileage is the last thing I'm worried about...

First let me say that listening to people talk about their gas mileage, is almost like listening to fishing stories.
Sure, you'll get 30mpg, on a flat level road, with no head wind, and the cruise control set for around 60 mph.
But you're talking about 75 to 80mph, that's a huge difference in wind resistance.
At those speeds expect about 26mpg +/- depending on transmission, body style, etc.
Besides, I'm certain you didn't buy a 'vette for the best economy possible, or to run the cheapest gas, or be the most economical to repair.
No, you bought it to goooooo, so enjoy it, and forget about the gas mileage, it's doing just fine!

I'm on my first road trip in this car. I hear about so many people getting around 30 mpg. I've driven nearly 2600 miles, flat areas, hilly areas, and the most mpg's has been slightly over 26, mostly in the mid 25's. My speed has been in the 75-80 mph. Tires are inflated to 32 psi cold. The trip started out with the car only having 16k on it.
Does the Z51 gearing kill mileage this much? Something else? It's got a Diablo 93 octane tune. I'm thinking about going back to the stock tune for the last 1000 miles and see what happens.

You need to park this car in the garage and buy yourself a Civic. I got 40 mpg with my 2007 Civic, but I decided I wanted a Sports Car and I sold the civic and bought a Corvette 08 A6 Z51 that is one of the Fastest Bad A$$ cars on the road and I might get 25 mpg, I do not know because I do not care...I drive a Corvette.
I am taking your post as a joke, if you are not kidding then neither am I.

Ironically, my DD is a 2008 Honda Civic coupe getting around 35 MPG. My wife more than makes up for it with her Yukon XL getting less than 15...

Based on 20 litres of gas, it would equate to 4.4 Canadian gallons.
and 5.4 US gallons
The best way to do an accurate measure is by Litres per miles when comparing a Canadian mileage per gallon to a US mileage per gallon.
With mileage being equal, 30 MPG in Canadian gallons equates to approx. 24.6 MPG in US Gallons.

C6 of Year Finalist (performance mods) 2019
Brand new coming home from the dealer I got slightly over 27 on that 5500 mile trip. I've occasionally checked on other similar or longer trips and get similar mileage and with several mods.
If you watch the instant mpg numbers, you'll notice differences for not only the speed, but also overall elevation changes and even for the type of road surface.
Just as a test, I've seen 18 mpg at a steady 140 mph. It irritates Prius drivers, who can't go that fast to make a comparison. My general average instant on smooth and dead flat is 35 mpg at 55 mph.
Forgot to add, I also get a max of 2 mpg when at the dragstrip and that's only because of the shutdown and return road compensates for the burnout and the first 1/4 mile.

I always quote US mpg on the Forum for our American friends, I actually don't even relate to mpg in my head and have to convert from the metric equivalents. My explanation for the good gas mileage is the light weight, gear ratio in sixth (practically idling at 70mph) and aerodynamics.
Is that mileage per Canadian or American gallon. A US gallon has 3.7 litres compared to the Canadian gallon of 4.5 litres per gallon.
Based on 20 litres of gas, it would equate to 4.4 Canadian gallons.
and 5.4 US gallons

One time, in the 7+ years we've had our '08 1LT 6M 0-option coupe, I checked the DIC for fuel economy on a road trip. It was Tuesday June 4, 2013 on the I-40 from Holbrook, AZ to Albuquerque, NM. 6th gear, cruise control set @ 78 mph (posted speed limit 75) for a total of 234.7 miles. Never touched the brakes or gas pedal. DIC gave me 33.4 mpg avg.
Sort of like a hole-in-one golf shot. Fun, but not every time you play.
