While at the dealer last week I was scoping out the Camaro Z28, WOW, some kind of race car, but back to this, I liked the BLACK WHEEL they had a lot would consider them if they were available in correct size for a GS

Car is a considerable beast but at $82,000 as this was, whew

Hello guvna !

Strangely enough its not the black wheels that break the harmony of the car, its the black line on your bonnet. In any case I guess black wheels is kind of a mid 20's racing between red light and trying to catch some tail kind of thing.

I've never been a big fan of the black wheel look, but I was never a big Batmobile fan either. I think the car looked much better with the chrome wheels on it. Why try to improve on something that already looks outstanding? You have to exercise some judgment and know when you're gilding the lily. It's like the old joke about the two brothers who bought a new Ford Country Squire station wagon and then stripped off all the wood trim. One turns to the other and says "I think it looked better in the case".

They're too heavily indoctrinated with their fascist anti-black wheel propaganda to ever see the light.
Most are over 50, and too set in their ways to accept new ideas.

Power to the people!
I'll turn 70 in about three weeks and I guess that makes me a "Neo-Chrome". I like the chrome look, but I restore vintage cars and I tend to prefer the "as delivered" appearance. Methinks too many Vette owners suffer from JCWS (J.C. Whitney Syndrome). I was reading the thread about the 73 year old man who was killed when he flipped his 08 Vette convertible that he had bought the day before. The consensus seemed to be that old farts shouldn't be driving really powerful cars. Ageists! Oops! I gotta go, or maybe I already did. These diapers are awesome!

Love the wheels not saying your old if you like chrome but you are certainly days away from assisted living if you are hating on them.

I'm also not saying you are a follower if you go with the trends. The black wheels that came on the C4 gran sport are awesome. I had a set of those on my camaro when i had it.

To each there own but IMO black or colored wheels give the vette a modern aggressive look.

I like both. I picked up a set of black spyder wheels & tires about 5 months ago. I kept the chrome GS wheels and switch them out every couple of weeks. I like being able to change up the look. I can tell you that when the black wheels are on the car I get a lot more compliments.

Here are some photos:

Default Poll: Black wheels

Our 2007 coupe is the Machine Silver Metallic and after seeing the photo with black wheels, it is diffidently not my choice. Hope you have the chance to return and get your originals back. Have seen yellow and red C6 corvettes with black, both looked OK. I like our original chrome. As was mentioned somewhere before, this photo shot location was not a good choice so that might change my mind in the sun.

There are numerous custom wheels designs where black might change my mind, but would be difficult to arrange a showing from a dealer of custom wheels no doubt.

Good luck going forward that will make you a happy camper once again.

Oh ya, am 78, still flexible and willing to consider what is available. This car of ours was used in 2011, our first Corvette and liked it. Still do.

Tires are already black. So go grey. Best color. Chrome is best for car show bling. Grey for the track.

IMO

Black wheels are boring!

They make every car with them look like a low end Honda Accord or Hyundai with steel wheels and no hubcaps.

Yes, I agree, just the other day I mistook a Lamborghini Aventador for a Hyundai

Chrome is for people with itty bitty brakes, they hope the chrome draws your attention away from them.

I've tried to stay away from this post for obvious reasons......but this quoted post just about sums it up perfectly with the best explanation I've heard on the subject. But I would like to ad that the ones with black wheels that don't live in trailer parks should consider moving to one so they can be amongst their kind.

Default Chrome Wheels show best

I now have my 4th Vette, a '14 Red/Red Stingray with Chrome Rims. My others have been same color combo - none with black wheels. Just prefer the Chrome over black. Think it makes the car stand out as it should since its a Vette!
