Anybody use a Fumoto valve ...
... in place of the regular oil drain plug? Or do Vettes sit too low to the ground that an accidental opening of the valve on road debris would be too likely?

i 've been using the fumoto oil plug for 2 years on my 013 base. that car is gone and in place of it i have a 012 CE GS that i just ordered a f107s oil plug for. i had a thread on this plug a year or so ago and got very little response. i think they're GREATTTTTTT and so easy to drain oil every time you change your oil. it's a spring loaded gizmo you push up and slide over to drain. slide the valve back and it locks into the closed position. and if your a little skeptical about that, they now have a plastic locking devise you can use. no more taking oil drain plugs off and replacing because these are on for the life of your vehicle.

I have one on my daily driver. It works OK, but as time goes on it doesn't make the greatest seal in the world IMO. It leaks and drips a little now, but it's like 5 years old or more at this point.

oil pan valve
I used the valve for the last 10 years no issues on the vet and the dd's The only draw back is I forget to replace the valve with the oem bolt when I sell the cars

I have used them on all of my cars for at least ten years. Never had a leak or any other kind of problem. Makes oil changes a simple deal. I would not drive a car without it, low or not. If something came up and took out the valve on the Corvette it would tear off the oil filter as well. Not much chance of that happening anyway. Fantastic product. Used by a lot of race teams too.

I have one on my '13 and love it. Super convenient and no issues. The car is tracked occasionally and I haven't had any leaks or other problems.
Wish there was a way to change the oil filter without spilling any oil, because that's the only reason I really need to wear gloves anymore. (this is where someone chimes in with a great product that does exactly that, and I thank them profusely )

Not totally clean but for al of my cars I have used a small center punch and poked a small hole in the bottom of the oil filter. Almost all of the oil drains and make filter removal a lot cleaner. On the Corvette, the drain plug and filter are close together and I can drain both at the same time

Have one on my 2010 base for over a year now. No problems or leaks. It's the kind of product you forget you have until you go to drain the oil. Never causes a problem and does its job.

Tool less oil changes, ability to attach a hose to drain oil are a couple of reasons alone. I dont have one on my vette, however I do on my DD and my diesel truck - great product

I've used them for over 25 years, and some were on cars for over 15 years (I tend not to get rid of things). Never had a single leak, and I've personally never heard of one getting "accidentally" knocked open. I suppose with the right combination of circumstances it could happen, but I wouldn't worry.

Don't the drain plugs have a magnet at the tip? It's quick/crude way of seeing the engine's life when you change the oil. Only feature I see you lose, but the valve's pretty nifty.

i bought the magnet that goes right on the oil filter so it doesn't matter when i use the fumoto. actually, i think the magnet on the oil filter is much more productive in retaining little metal particles.
