Why is it??
Took the C6 out for the day for the second time since we picked it up since it was a beautiful 60 degree weekend in Seattle.
So far I've noticed both times that whether I am on the 4 lane or a freeway that sooner or later somebody will want to race. So far I have been challenged by a Camaro, a Charger, a WRX, and a couple of riced up Hondas. What is with that??? I also noticed that people love to tailgate, even when I am going 10 over the limit! Sorry folks, not going to street race on the freeway.
On the flip side I received several compliments on the car, especially that folks seem to really like the Daytona Sunset Orange color. No one can believe that the car is almost 10 years old and a couple folks thought it was new! I even got thumbs up from two other C6 drivers and a C5 driver as well. Not a bad day overall

I know what you mean. I was out in my 78 once and a young kid in a Prius motioned for me to lower the window. Asked me if the car was the new C7. Had a good laugh with that one. Whenever I get a challenge, I just laugh and then ignore them.

They'll ask if it's the new Stingray, or a Ferrari, all kinds of comments, and questions.
My days of street racing are also long gone.
I did many thoughtless, and dangerous things when I was young and stupid.
Some folks grow up, and others never do.
Yes, people swerving around you showing how annoyed they are with your slow poke speed when you're 10~12 mph over the limit is very common.
Challenges at a roll as well as red lights are very common. Just ignore them, and enjoy all the attention!

Like Don said, "get used to it."

My exhaust drone keeps me right around 70-75mph I get passed constantly with loads of Nasty looks, when cars pull up next to me and start looking over and slowing down I wait untill they finally launch :-)
Then I kick my stroked high comp head/cam/exhaust ls3 into gear roll past them sideways and they usually pull off and cry

Try having a cammed vette. At red lights the sound is like waving a red blanket in front of a hormonal bull. I’ve seen more burnouts from burnouts since I had my vette cammed, ricers, trucks, 4 door (wannabe sleepers)-- its almost sad if it weren’t so funny. Sometimes I’ll rev my motor just to add fuel to the fire but no racing for me in town. You’ll get used to it. Diesal trucks with their black smoke get on my nerves however.

I get that in my C7 ALL THE TIME. I'll even get it from Ford Explorers or anybody that has a young guy in it along with the sporty cars. My C6, no one seems to want to bother with it. Must be the loud exhaust and the blower whine

Yes, I have been bothered by it also. Once they see a old fart is driving they usually go away I had a guy interrupt my conversation with a small store clerk by asking who owned the beautiful Corvette. They draw attention good and bad.

Certainly not here in south Florida.
With the exception of other 'vette owners, no one can tell a wide body from a base, from a ZR1 to a Grand Sport, Z06, C5, or C6, nada, nothing, clueless.
Many times in the past year, I have been asked if my car is the new Stingray.
I got tired of explaining C6, C7 etc., so now I just answer with, ..."Why yes,...yes it is". They say it's beautiful and walk away.
