Why is there a Corvette Museum? Why is there a Corvette Hall of Fame? Why are there so many Corvettes in museums all across America? Why do people flock to events like Corvettes of Carlisle by the thousands? Why do so many cities across America have Corvette clubs?
if it's just a car....
Why no Malibu museums? Why no Torino museums? Why no Camry clubs?
Why? Why? Why?

Some folks took the question too literally. The lifestyle I would say is different for each person...from anyone who maintains a garage queen; to those who track it; to those who park it out in left field and still can't stop worrying if someone's gonna park next to it. Checking out this forum; modding; waving; etc. etc. etc. It's all a part of the Corvette lifestyle...

Hah, Hah!
Lifestyle? I've been known to wear the wrong generation clothing when driving (the other one). Heck, I've been known to wear two different generation's clothing at the same time, but I've never worn an article from a gen or model I've never owned ( I have to maintain some standard, you know). I've even been known to answer a question in the wrong forum.
It's fun, and I would sorely miss it if I had to drive some mundane vehicle, but it's a car, a cool one, but still just a car.
There are many out there, where this is their main focus in life, and hey, I hope they get first place in the car show that they are entered in this week.
Fun is a very subjective word.

I own a Corvette. There are many like it but this one is mine. My Corvette is a not my best friend but I own it because of my best friend. It is not my life but I own it because of my best friend in life. Without me my Corvette is useless, but together we both become far from ordinary.

All the aforementioned practices apply to anyone loving his ride to certain extremes, whether it's a 1993 Civic or a C7.

To me it is the ownership and enjoyment of owning a corvette. The corvette experience is something that other people will never know and most of us are ok with that. It's good to be associated with something other people don't understand, why crowd a good thing?

Oops that's right...except this thread is about the "Corvette" lifestyle...don't know if you realized it but this IS a Corvette Forum...specifically C6...not a 1993 Civic or C7.

OK, I will man up here! I bought a great looking 8" diameter embroidered Corvette patch off of Ebay and had my dry cleaner sew it on the back of black leather jacket I have owned for years. I have had several people stop me and ask me where I got the cool jacket from.

And for that, I must apologize, because it is extremely important that no one gets mislead and erroneously define their lifestyle, in accordance with their vehicle management and habits.
Without meaning to push the trivial issue at hand too deep into philosophical thinking, I've always pondered about the reason for this need that the masses have, to "brand" themselves. "Like cattle", as the dearly missed George Carlin was putting it.
To me this exposes the perverse effect of extreme consumerism, but hey, I obviously don't belong and I'm therefore not worthy of Corvette ownership.
Oh waitaminit!!!! I DO wave at other Corvettes!!! (and always get the wave back)...plus, I'm on the forum!
Damn it!!!! I'm a victim of consumerism too!!!!!!!!! but at least I belong to the Corvette product world a little now.
Phew!! close call.... I was starting to feel the painful pressure of identity crisis brought forth by this rabid anti conformism.
I'm obviously bored. Let me get on the treadmill and do something healthy with my time.

I like having one in the garage and have met some great people because of it but if it's gone tomorrow, oh well.....
And if someone wouldn't want to associate with me because I didn't have a Corvette, I certainly wouldn't want them to associate with me because I do have one.
I hate grounded, and philosophical.
Nice avatar, but the other was more artistic.

It's subjective, owning a corvette means different things for different people. At the very least there is comradery in knowing that a fellow corvette owner drives the same car and enjoys the same driving experience that you do. For me personally the "lifestyle" is just being able to outrun 90% of what I see on the road on my way to work. No car club for me. Don't forget to wave.

I don't follow the typical Corvette lifestyle:
1. listen to oldies/classic rock
2. wear Hawaiian shirts/sandals/full corvette outfits or short shorts
3. belong to a local club or show my car.
There's plenty of room for all of us Vette fans..

I don't know, I guess for me it's a car.
I've always wanted a 'vette, and now that I have one, I enjoy it, but it's just a car not a "lifestyle".
When I'm tired of it, I'll sell it, and buy something else.
Whatever I buy, will also be a car, and not a lifestyle.
Guess I don't fit that mold.
