C6 Corvette Forum, Just About Every Thread Is Now A Advertisement

Moderation seems to be a little more relaxed on most forums lately. Maybe that's part of it.

There's a forum rule against venting in ANY sales thread, vendor or another forum member's thread. You've got to know where and how to do it.

Got to agree with this thread. I know where to look if I want to shop here. Not so bad if someone posts a question and a vendor answers with a product ad, but the constantly bumped ads get annoying. Easy to spot so just avoid. Makes you want to shop elsewhere. There are plenty of ads on the forum, I'm sure it pays the bills just fine.

For the record, I don't mind talking about how much I still love my '08 that I bought brand new. I also love the sweet sounding cam/headers that I had installed a few years ago by a forum member.....AND, I haven't advertised in the C6 section for probably at least 2 months Doesn't make much sense to advertise when I have about 25 customers waiting on painted parts *disclaimer* this is not an indirect advertisement

Everybody want to race.

I think most of the mods here on the Corvette Forum are just as tired of all these ads as we are ... But they have no power.
The owner of this board (some corporation) is very happy that they get all that money for advertisements posted here, and if a mod don't like it, the board owners (corporation) will just tell the mod to hit the road!
Unfortunatly, this board is NOT owned by some guy that just happens to like Corvettes ... it was at one time, but that guy sold out a very long time ago.
Just the way it is .....

Looks to me that at about any given time, 50% of the threads here are ads.
Here is todays snapshot ... I count 50% of the threads to be ads.
Sure it's out of hand, but unfortunately there is nothing any of us can do about it.

A forum vendor is allowed a maximum of 3 threads on the first title page. If a vendor has more than that, you can report him with the red triangle icon under his username.
Maybe if more forum members became paying supporting members, the forum owners would cut back on where they were allowed, but that's just a maybe.

Prisoner's Dilemma
At some point, additional ads will reduce readership to such a degree that the site's sponsors would make more revenue if there were fewer ads. Unfortunately, it doesn't make sense for any individual advertiser to voluntarily cut back so long as the others are free not to.
