Front bumper

Front bumper
Hi all! Have a question. I just purchased a pre-owned 2008 C6 with the Z51 package. I noticed that is has the front bumper of a Z06 or Grandsport model (the one with the air vent above the corvette logo. Front what I can tell my corvette should not have come with that type of bumper. The dealer does not know anything about it. I can only assume that the previous owner installed it at some point (after market). The problem that I am having is that the black plastic grille insert does not sit flush in the opening. I even bought a new one thinking that the old one might have gotten deformed over time. However the new one does not fit right either. Has anyone ever had this happened with their after marker to OEM bumper? Any ideas as to what might be the problem? I will try to post a picture of the problem.

If some one installed the ZO6 front facia without also installing the ZO6 front fenders, it could possibly cause this problem. When you post some pics, it will help.

what I've gathered is that the Z51 package is now referred to as the Grand Sport.
The newer GS (I believe '09 and up?) all have the wide body. So for the Z51 package, the front bumper with the air vent is standard.
Not 100% sure.

Earlier models with the Z51 package looked no different than the base model, with/without Z51.
Any model made from 2009 on down with the Z51 pkg. was not referred to as a Grand Sport.
Since the OP's 2008 has the front air intake scoop, it has to be an after market mod.
Photos of the front end would be helpful.

Is the bumper flexible (OEM) or rigid (aftermarket fiberglass)?
A pic from a little farther away showing the panel gaps and where the bumper meets the fenders would help.
The intake isn't something you just 'install', you replace the entire bumper with a Z/GS version.

That doesn't look good at all. I've been wanting to put a GS style front bumper on my 05 coupe. Additional pictures would definitely help out. Seems like a Z or GS front bumper would have to be deformed to fit a coupe with normal fenders.

Rafael, I took a few photos of the scoop area on my '13 GS.
My car is totally stock, and never been damaged, or repaired.
Perhaps using a comparison will help to see the proper fit.
As rmiller86 has said, full photos of the front end, side shots where the bumper meets the fender, etc. would also help.

Yup! I became a gold member here which lets you use animated avatars and that's my first attempt at animation in photoshop. All I did was add a lens flare to each light. Pretty cool!

my assumption is that you have an aftermarket bumper meant to look like the gs/z06 etc bumper. it'd be helpful to have photos of the entire car so we could see if you have a widebody or not.
