Default question about corvette as a supercar

This is probably a subjective question..I have a 2010 grandsport convertible...what would it take for this car to be considered in the realm of a supercar?..taking into account that this will remain, for the most part a street car..

In my opinion, supercars are expensive, exclusive, and high performance vehicles. With that in mind, if you dump a lot of money into modifications for both performance and looks, then in the end you will have something expensive, exclusive, with high performance.

I think the general consensus is the C7 has finally brought the Corvette into "Supercar" status...as far as people outside the Corvette world is concerned.

A lot, perhaps most, people would consider it a super car straight out of the box. It's certainly faster than the super cars of the '60s. I've always thought of super cars as sedans that were fast, or at least had a back seat, and the Corvette as a very fast sports car. With that definition, nothing you could do would make it a super car.

We appear to have varying opinions as to what defines a "super car".

You should stay close to stock for a reliable daily driver. Economy and reliability are the reasons. "Super Cars" are as a whole are not daily transportation vehicles as the cost per mile is not practical for most people.

Call it hand built and add 200 to 500k to the price, sell only to existing owners, don't build too many, charge 5k or more for annual service and that should do it.

Very subjective. I don't consider something a supercar unless it is capable of 200 + mph. The C7 doesn't make it but the C6 ZR1 did. So what would it take to get you GS to ZR1 performance?

IMO you can't make it so. It has to come from the factory. In Corvette world, you can make your C6 into a super car by trading it for a C7z.

My opinion only.

You can't make a supercar.

Supercars come from the factory as such. You can give you GS supercar performance howevr…a little different

Calloway or Hennesesy would be right there. A limited number production car.

Totally disagree. Corvettes are not supercars. They've got the same performance (and have since the late 80s) as an entry level supercar, but they don't have the exclusivity of them. They make tons and tons of Corvettes, whereas Ferrari will only build like 7000 cars in a year.

Corvettes are fast, and faster than what some people would consider supercars. Then again, what is considered a supercar tends to be a matter of perspective. Where I grew up in South Florida, a Corvette was nothing special, it was just another coupe. A supercar in South Florida is totally different than up here in Hickory. Up here, my '92 is looked at by a lot of people as a supercar.

Personally, Even the new C7Z or C6ZR1 is just a fast Corvette. It's like a GT-R, a really fast sports car. But it's common, and doesn't come from a brand with any real prestige to it.

It's a pretty super car but it's not a super-car.
The La Ferrari, 918, P1, Aventador, Veyron, these are super-cars.

Supercars are expensive, rare and have some sort of legendary history to it.

A corvette, while its been out for a while, is not a supercar. Even the C7Z. It may have supercar performance. Can probably destroy have of the supercars out there but it's not a supercar. Every bit of the car has to be almost pristine and made from quality materials. The corvette is not. It looks nice but it is still made "cheaply" compared to real supercars.

I would call a GT-R a supercar over a corvette. That is a real serious machine. Yes i driven one even if that doesn't matter since this thread is opinion based anyway.

Super car, in my way of thinking, must have exclusivity and be made with leading edge technology and materials as well as be of top tier performance.

Everything associated with the car must be high end from the paint to the dash and containing the finest leathers and carbon fibre.

Plus must not be attainable by 99+% of the population.

While the Corvette does offer performance it sorely lacks in the other criteria.

$100,000 cars are nothing to sneeze at but exclusiv while being present day models...NOT!
