Default reproduction wheel quality?

I,m looking to change out my stock 08 base wheels. I really like the chrome ZR1 reproductions, but am unsure of the quality of reproductions. I have been in contact with a couple of forum vendors but can't seem to pull the trigger. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it. Thanks, Joe

I have had repro Factory brand spiders from House of Wheels on my coupe for 30K miles. They are straight and true and the finish still looks new. Very pleased. Too bad they're freakin' Chinese.

About 10'years ago I got a set of factory reproduction zr-1 wheels for my c4. Two out of four couldn't be balanced. They were replaced but a hassle. My advice is have whoever mounts the tires to spin them on the balancer before mounting tires to make certain they are true. That keeps the seller from saying the tire mounting screwed them up. Once I had four good ones, they were great wheels. Good luck.

Thanks for the help. Also heard that "Factory Reproductions" out of California makes a quality wheel. Has anyone ever dealt with them?

I will only say I do not agree. Repros I bought were junk. When it comes to wheels think quality first not savings. If your going with corvette style wheels oem is best.Cost more but IMO worth it.Just voiceing my opinion.

Years back I bought repo chrome thin spokes for my C5 because I purchased a set of non run flats...Much heavier wheels than the OEM thin spokes and took an obscene amount of wheel weights to balance.......chinese crap.....

And have posted my opinion many times before.

I figure around the neighborhood of $1000 per rim for real quality manufacturing.

Be careful. I was burned bad trying to save money on reproduction wheels. As mentioned above, if you decide to go that direction, have them spun prior to putting a tire on them. Good luck.

Have 2 sets both chrome and black(for sale) ZR-1 style reproductions and never have had an issue with quality, balance, etc....For the money you can't go wrong in my opinion.

Search function will help - plenty of posts regarding bad wheel deals - try searching West Coast Corvette wheels(reproductions). Ask me how I know!
