Progression of Vettes...
2010 CRM coupe was number 6 for me. Thought it would be cool to see progression for other members...Here's mine:
1993 Coupe
2007 black coupe
2004 silver coupe
2007 Red Vert
2003 50th aniv. Vert
2010 CRM coupe
Silver coupe was probably my least favorite, the 50th Aniv Vert was beautiful, black coupe sounded the best, running straight pipes. Am really liking the 2010 but am afraid that I've backed myself into a corner and will have to get a GS or Z06 next.

Awesome post! Your yellow C4 is what got me into Corvettes! Ever since I was a little boy I wanted one. I grew up physically, but not mentally since then. I hope to own more than one someday when I have some extra $, but here is how I started. Great thread!
THE DAY OF TRADE IN, ONE OF MY SADDEST MOMENTS THE C6 IS BETTER IN EVERY WAY, MORE POWER, LOOKS MORE MODERN, RIDES NICER, INTERIOR IS CLEANER, BUT THE YELLOW C5 WAS PAID FOR!!

I am far from a loyalist. Variety is the spice of life. my corvette progression would be .. match box vettes, to real vette.
I've had a 68 Camaro, a 2004 350z, a 2010 Camaro, a 2011 WRX, a 2012 Mustang, a 2008 STi, and now my 2013 corvette. ****, have I really owned 3 chevys? they are far from my favorite manufacturer. if it's American or Japanese, and performance oriented, chances are I will enjoy it. I have no inkling to dink around with german cars, too costly in parts and maintenance, especially when I modify things. I want to feel good about my car being reliable, or at least being cheap to fix if it is not.

My first was a '65 coupe that I bought between my junior and senior year in high school.
Here's a scan of four old pictures showing the progression... Upper right is the day I bought it. Upper left is me and my Dad working on it during my senior year. Lower right is after it was primed, and lower left is after paint. My Dad did the bodywork (he was the Body Shop manager at the local Chevy dealer), and I did the mechanical work. I learned so much from having that car - not only about cars, but about just how good a man my father is.
I sold the '65 in 1987 after more than ten years of ownership so I could finish my MS degree.
Got married, kids came along, and Corvette ownership was becoming a distant memory. As the kids got older and started moving out, we saw an opportunity to move into Corvette ownership, and my lovely wife (who's been my best friend for decades) encouraged me to get 'our' first Corvette, a '95 six speed manual coupe. We had that car Bloomington Gold Certified, and loved it from 2006 until 2014 (and some 30k miles).
We decided in 2013 that it was time to move to a C6, so I started looking for a black, cyber gray, or crystal red coupe. We initially were looking at 2008 - 2009 Z51 cars, but I found myself lingering over the Grand Sports, so we changed the criteria. I found this 2011 CRM Grand Sport in Dallas, and we flew down, picked it up, and drove it home in March.
We got it with 12.7k on the clock, and when I put it up for the Winter a few weeks ago, we were at just under 20k. Our 8k of smiles includes eleven states, the 2014 NCM Corvette Caravan, and a run on the Tail of the Dragon.
During the Caravan/TotD trip, we headed into Georgia, and gave my parents a chance to see the C6. My dad followed my search for a C6 with great interest, and they both seemed thrilled that we'd gotten this car.
We love the C6 and look forward to many more years of miles and smiles!

IMy first car was 1980 Camaro. **** Brown Metallic with tan interior. Had a 383 that was decent but the car was a POS.
I traded it for a Gold 1974 Datsun 260Z. Was fun but a slow car. It liked to overheat. I sold it when my brother gave me his 1972 Datsun 240Z.
It was red with some wide fender flares on it. Another fun car but it didn't run well and no one around here knew much about them. I was going to drop a 350 in it till I saw a ad for a 1973 Firebird and sold it.
Ah, the Roach, as my Mom called it. It was ruff but for $1000 it ran great and came with a ton of parts that I sold off. I can't find any more pics, but I restored the interior and put on new quarter panels myself. Never got to paint her because I ended up selling her for something more dependable. A nice 1988 Camaro 305 TBI!
I drove her for 8 years. Put on a cowl hood, Crager wheels, chromed the engine and of all places had Maaco paint her one color. They did a great job for $300. I did all the prep through.
Then 9/11 happened. Cars were not selling. The Camaro was going away and it would be my last chance to get a new Camaro. I wanted a SOM SS, but there were none around. Even Z were drying up from all the deals to be had. My dealer located a 02 Z on a truck and had it routed here. It had everything I wanted but was red.
I didn't want red till I saw the car in person. I got it. Turned left out of the parking lot and continued to floor it down Reno Avenue. I loved it. The car my mine until . . . . .
. . . my wife saw a SOM SS at a local dealership. I looked at it that Sunday night and went back when they opened in the pouring rain and came home with her. I was in heaven. 2 new Camaros in my garage. I put ZR1s on them, SS hood and spoiler on the Z which I daily drove and the SS some goodies, 3500 TCI stall, TR 224 cam, Hooker headers and catback and of course a airlid. She was a fun car, 11.9 isn't blistering today, but was a fun full weight street car.
I sold both when we were going to build a house. The Z going away wasn't that bad but I felt sick seeing the new owner drive away in the SS . . . .
The house got put on a hold for a couple years because of the market and I wanted a Vette so I got a 2006.
Got tired of the plain looks of the 06 and got a '11 GS.
Still a Camaro guy that drives a Corvette. Still get sick thinking about the SOM SS.......
