Corvette dealership is a joke.... Avoid (FL)
Called ahead of time to schedule an appointment for an oil change, 1PM today. Arrive at dealership and they asked me if I was going to stay with the car, told me 45 min it would be done. I said sure as I was on my lunch break. "Must be a long lunch break" is what they told me. Maybe I should have picked up on that because at 2:20 I walk out to the lot and my car is sitting there parked in the same spot it had been when I arrived almost an hr and a half earlier. I said, "Can I please have have my keys back, the car hasn't moved in 1.5hrs." Reply "Oh your car is definitely next, look we don't even have your keys anymore because the mechanics took it." I look around, yep there is my fob hanging there with all the other keys. Give me a break.
If anyone out there chooses to avoid getting service at a dealership, I now know why and don't blame you one bit. One of the managers (Scott) was actually very apologetic about it and was not aware. Everyone else couldn't care less.
GM Service, the best. Phil Smith Chevrolet in Lauderhill. LOL. Not sure why I called ahead to set up an appointment in the first place?

Made an appointment at Palm Chevrolet in Punta Gorda, Florida last week to have the engine coolant flushed and refilled with Dex Cool on my 2007 vert. My appointment was at 2:00. I arrived at 1:45 and check in. Job completed and I was driving out of the dealership at 3:00. Not all GM service is bad.

OP, I agree that there was a service and communication breakdown and you should be disappointed with them based on that experience. But, really should you totally trash the dealership by posting your story on the forum? I don't think so. Maybe everyone else that day got great service; who knows? Maybe one of their oil change techs didn't show up for work that morning that screwed up their schedule for everyone. Also, I would not cast such harsh judgment with just one visit.
You state that the manager was sorry and apologized. What did he say or offer to remedy the situation? Did you get your oil changed or did you leave? Did you ask for a discount due to their delay and mishandling?

I left because if it was almost 1.5hrs later than scheduled appt. and I had to get back to my office. 1.5hr wait for a simple oil change is unacceptable. This may be because the car is under a service plan and takes last priority. I see what you are saying about trashing the dealership, but I just want to know what is the point of making an appt?

There are good and bad in all of life. Locally there is one Chevy dealership that is known as the place to go for Corvettes. I have made a couple appointments and both times they were working on my car within a reasonable amount of time.
It may take some repeat business to get the attention of the guys there. They'll learn that you are not one to wait when you scheduled an appointment. I always ask the questions about when they will do the work on my car if I schedule the appointment for 1 pm, will they start at 1 pm? Nope, but it will probably be within 30 minutes.
As others have said, do it yourself and you'll know when it will be worked on. It just takes your time and equipment to get it done.

Whenever I arrive for an appointment, I make a point of telling the service advisor that my car needs to be done by a certain time because of another appointment or commitment that I have. Never had a problem when doing that.

If they are doing it to one person.. in this case the OP.. they are doing it to others which is wrong and bad service. Good dealerships don't let you sit there for an hour and a 1/2 without letting you know what is going on then try to cover it up. I wouldn't go back and have no problem with it being posted on this forum

We get pretty good service from the local Chevy dealer. It probably helps that we've bought 12-15 vehicles from them in the last 35 years.

I think all Chevrolet dealerships don't have quick lube rack, and the last time I had them do it, and it was free, almost two hour wait. The tech's only get paid 2 tenths for oil change and techs don't want to it.

I agree....every oil change I've had done at Criswell in Gaithersburg, MD has been very timely. In and out within an hour.
