Time for a change -Vette to be gone?
So - I've been in & out of Corvette ownership over the past 35 years.
And have enjoyed a lot of hot cars in between.
Yea you're right - the Vettes have always been special.
Yet still I go away from them - maybe just wanting to compare something different for awhile & knowing I could always buy another down the road...
But now with winter approaching - the itch has started once again.
Set up with my local Ford dealer to test out the new Mustang next week.
Also thinking about the ATS-V - to be revealed at the LA autoshow which opens Nov 21st...
FYI - C7 doesn't fit - or my 2011 would have been traded for one last year!
Please fellow Vette owners - I am at my tipping point!

I just traded my 2013 Mustang for a 07 Corvette. Have been in and out of Mustangs sense 1969, Only wish I had done this a lot sooner!! No comparison. Good luck, and hope your happy with whatever you chose.

You are going to miss and regret it. My last car was an 05 S281 and while the mustang was an awesome car, it was a whole different feeling than a corvette. It felt heavy and boxy while the corvette is more like a sports car. I like the hellcat a lot too but you will end up comparing it to the corvette.

The grass isn't always greener on the other side but you won't know until you try it.
Good luck with whatever you choose. It sounds like you have to scratch that itch.

But I've never been a Mopar guy - so had pretty much dropped this choice off my short list.
And you need to know I'm 60+ - so I'm not saying The Challenger is a poor choice - but I don't want/need the image that car would bring.
If that makes any sense....Mustang GT possibly - Hellcat, hmmm?

i left the corvette community back in 2009, not by choice but by necessity...at the time i really didnt plan on coming back. I love trying new things and i thought i had scratched that itch. In 2011 i found myself back in a grand sport. Its amazing how once you get it in your blood it never leaves

The '15 Stang 5.0 has the track pack with toggle switches on the dash to turn stuff on and off.Looks pretty cool.435 HP so comparable to the vette. 0-60 in 4.something so it's pretty quick in spite of weighing a little more then the Vette. I'd personally look at the HELLCAT though.707 HP..oh yea!!!

Means it will finally handle a turn - unlike all like my others.
Hell - even my old Corvair had that, lol.
FYI - I bought my last Mustang when the new version came out in 2005.
So I've gotta drive the new one now - even if just to see how it feels...

Good advice thanks - but more power is not my beef.
I can smoke em & get the back end loose enough as it is.
And zero to the speed limit - is my limit these days anyway, lol.
Just looking for a new thrill from something different I guess.
Or maybe not...
My factory order 2011 (meaning exactly what I wanted back then) still looks great - when I turn to check it out after walking away...
Now that's a feeling you can't get from every car these days!

The ATS-V is ugly as sin, just like all the current Caddy products. Talk about a dying brand, they tried so hard to be knock off BMWs and they're rewarded with slipping sales and a total lack of reality about who they are as a company.
The Hellcat is cool. It is nothing like a Corvette. It won't handle like a vette, but it will do a big smoky burnout. Probably a pretty fun car if corners aren't your thing.
My short list of cars I'd be looking at to replace my C6 is pretty simple. Cayman, 911, Alfa 4C, or Lotus Evora. You might sense a common trend with all but 1 of them.

Maybe looks similar to a lot of others out there - but you think it is ugly...
Thanks for your advice - & I'll take a closer look.
I thought the CTSV coupe was too plain down the sides - & this is not.
And 911? Apart from the price - way too common - at least from my point of view. 911 seems to be the car a lot of 60+ guys gravitate too - & I'm not ready for retirement thinking quite yet.

Certain Porsche models start around $85000 these days. I'd also recommend waiting around to check out the new Supra. It's currently the FT-1 but is obviously their MKV Supra. A Viper or Lexus ISF may also be a good replacement. I realize they're all very different, but why not step outside your comfort zone?
