Default What year C6 should i buy?

Sold my 94. Now in the market for a C6. Probably 2005 2006 or 2007 is what I can afford. Is there any one year I should avoid or favor?
Thanks
Ted

Always buy the latest model year you can possibly afford, and you won't go wrong.

Go for the LS3 engine in 2008 and up.

Most everyone will tell you as new as you can afford, i would try to get to a 2008 if it's in your budget.

But the general consensus is pretty much always the newest year you can afford.

I personally would even buy a newer year/higher mileage vette over an older/lower mileage vette, or at least 2008 or newer, specifically because of the LS3 engine.

There were a bunch of changes made in '06 that are worth having, in my opinion. '06 and '07 are similar.

The specifics are covered in numerous threads but here's one thing you might not see mentioned: every single 2005-2006 and some early 2007 C6s with painted roofs have had their roofs recalled and replaced. The replacement roofs had to be painted at the dealership.

This means that almost all the cars you're looking at have had their roofs painted outside the factory (unless you're looking at transparent roofs or convertibles). So inspect the roof carefully, because not all dealer work is fantastic.

Everyone says get an '08 or newer because of the LS3. Sure it has 30 more HP (36 with NPP), but it sounds like you have already done your research and have the years locked in as to your budget.
I went out when I decided it was time to upgrade from my C5 to a C6 with the idea of nothing older then a 2008 for the LS3. Well I ended up with an '07.
Unless you plan to race the car or even the stop light to stop light burst, 400 hp or 430 hp will not make a bit of difference. Lets face it the vast majority of Corvette owners never use the car to it full potential.
I will say what has been said before get what is in your budget, with the lowest miles and the newest.

I went with an 07, with low miles. since there were more of them produced, you can usually find a bargain.

Wouldn't worry about an LS-3 as opposed to the LS-2. That's usually a bias opinion. Not enough difference between the two to mark over your favorite color or the options you want.....mileage...etc. Just be sure and have the harmonic balancer checked for too much wobble as that is an expensive fix. Might be a way to negotiate in the price if its bad.

to a point. some guys like myself welcome the extra 30 hp the LS-3 comes with. and i'm sure there is a little more add ons to that motor than just the added hp. and i was also told that the LS-3 is one of the most bullet proof engines on the market. jmo

A few years ago I sold my C5 and decided to get a C6. I wanted 08+ LS3 but settled for 06LS2 with boltons. I never stopped wanting to move up to LS3 though and it bothered me every day. Now I have 09 LS3 MN6 with NPP and It pulls stronger than my 06 with exhaust/intake and a tune. LS3 is a better engine plus newer transmission and better steering make a difference. GET LS3
I WOULD RATHER GET C5Z06 THAN LS2C6. IMO LS2C6<C5Z06<LS3C6

There is a yellow '09 on the auction site being sold by janicept (a female CF member) for a real low price. Amazing reliability and the vast majority of the mileage was gentle highway miles.

Maybe not up yet, but see her post in this section.

Ted. Traded my C5 for a 2006 C6 Vert, 6-speed. The ride is fantastic, the LS2 responds nicely to toe presses, and the Corsa System sounds great with the top down. You cannot go wrong on whatever choice you make.
