Had to have been when I was in third grade or so. What a cool car, and not just in car mags, but I could see it in person, at the new car shows! It took a long time to get one, but it was worth the wait!

I was hooked when a family friend took me for a ride in her '63 split window coupe. I think I was perhaps 8 years old. Her 'Vette was black with a red leather interior. We lived in Connecticut at the time and her car was a few years old so the salt had rusted the exhaust system out and it was loud! Only downer was that it had the Powerglide 2 speed automatic and even at that young age I knew there was something very wrong about that! Took me until 2013 to actually own one...

I would guess around 1955 or so, when I was five years old, and first noticed those white C1s and even more so after the '56s came out. And I remember watching Route 66 also, as someone mentioned above, and that also pushed me.
I bought my first one in 1990 (a '72) but sold it after a few years because I got tired of working on all the time.
So then I buy an '07 this past May. I'm lovin' it so far.

When I was 8 or 9 yr old, riding my bicycle a couple blocks from my house -- a neighbor had just bought a new 54. It was love at first sight - and told myself " Self- you gotta have one of those some day!" -- 40 years later I got my first Corvette - a Torch Red 94. Then went to a new 1998 C5 Coupe which I thought was a the best ever until I drove a 2013 GS M6 -

I was 9 years old when the 1953 Corvette was first introduced and I fell in love with it immediately. I vowed that I would have one some day and that came true at age 17 while I was still in high school.
I have been driving them ever since and I'm now on my 25th vette.
This photo of me 2nd from left at age 19 and 3 of my friends that I'm still in contact with to this date taken in the spring of 1963 .

1953!
The first time I could afford a NEW car was 1966. Even then I couldn't afford a Corvette. My first new car was a 1966 El Camino.

When the C5 came out. I liked the styling of earlier vettes but all of them that I rode in were rattle traps. I'd still like to have an early chrome bumper C3 for cruise nights though.

In 1977, I was 18 years old and driving home from my after school job when I saw a car on the side of the road that appeared to be on fire. The driver was standing next to the car in a panic. I had a fire extinguisher in my car so I pulled over and put the fire out before it became a big deal. After the tow truck took the car away, I drove the guy to his home way up in the hills in Diamond Bar CA. He lived in a house bigger than anything I had ever seen. He invited me inside and showed me around. That's when when I found out he was a baseball player for the San Diego Padres named George Hendrick. He said he stood on the side of the road watching people ignore his burning car and was sure it was going to burn to the ground. He was a really nice guy and was trying to hard to repay me but I really didn't do much so I felt funny taking his money. He ask me if I wanted anything and I told him I had never seen such a beautiful car and would love to get a ride in it when he had it repaired. I didn't even know what kind of car it was. I also knew that I would never see him or that car again. Well, I was wrong. About two weeks later, he called my house and told me I could use his car on Saturday night to take my wife to be on a date. I couldn't believe it. The car was a 1969 black Corvette. I picked up his car on Saturday afternoon, picked up my girl and we drove around all night. That was it for both of us. We never forgot that car. I married that girl in 1982 and in late 2013, she told me that she thought it was time for me to buy my dream car. We bought our first Corvette in May of this year.

In 1980. I was 7 years old and those C3's are still the "mean machine". I own a C6 but my heart was with the C3's. Just couldn't keep a garage queen without playing with my WOT moments :-)

I was a teenager in the sixties and the next door neighbor had a red
mid-year roadster with side exhaust.
On the weekends his buddy would come by with an identical car. They were always working on the cars and driving them up and down the street.
I was hooked.
Wasn't able to get my midyear until I was in my fifties.

My first Love Affair occurred while I was in my last year of College. A female colleague showed me a brochure of the new 1984 corvette. After reading the thick brochure, I knew what my 1st new car was going to be.
Present day and 4 Corvettes later, my Love Affair with the Corvette is still strong.

In 1986, when I first got my driver's license. I ended up getting my first one in 1991 at age 21, it was a white 84. I'm on my third one now (I had a C5 for 9 years before getting my C6 in April 2013)

Easy. When I first saw Todd Stiles (Martin Milner) driving that beautiful Corvette on Route 66!
My last name is Stiles so Todd was my favorite on the show. Several 'Vettes later now driving 2011 Torch Red Grand Sport. It's cool, and I'm sorta cool, but nothing like Todd and that ride!!
