Man gets locked in C6 Corvette, calls 911
A C6 Corvette has trapped yet another person with its electronic doors. Last week, Hemon Haskins of Lynchburg, Virginia decided to climb into a 2007 Corvette at a dealership. Haskins ended up getting locked inside because the car’s battery had died.

Funny story here, but I could picture somebody really getting stuck during some sort of emergency (cabin filling with water?). If you aren't familiar with the C6, there is no way you would find that manual release in an emergency situation.

Friend of mine who has owned 20+ Corvettes over the years had that to happen with his 2005 C6. Called his SIL over his cell phone to get him out. The dealer never told him about the emergency levers on the floor.

Having owned my 2010 all these years, I've all but forgotten those emergency release handles on the floor. I can see myself going into panic in an emergency situation, lol, calling 911, Onstar, etc.

Wonder how he got in if the battery was dead?
Many Vette salesmen I've encountered didn't know how to get in or out of a C6 with a dead battery, and there were quite a few when I was shopping.
Had interior door handles come off in a 67 Malibu and others, so getting 'trapped' in a car is not unique to just the new ones.

I live in Lynchburg and have not heard of this. He blew the horn yet the battery was dead. Troll story sounds troll.
Edit: I stand corrected here is the link from the local new station. Seems as though it was one of there own. LINKY

Geez... I just just realized that I don't know where the emergency release is on my '10 GS. That might get my blood pumping, too. I guess I better learn where they are.

Dude was an idiot. Carmax was closed and he some how got in and sat in the car shut the door and then didn't have the key fob to get out. Battery wasn't dead if the horn would sound.

It happened to me!
I had enough sense to put the drivers window down after it did not recognize the FOB. I crawled out the drivers side window, and bought a new battery. Dukes Of Hazzard Style!

The guy might have over panicked but certainly not an idiot since it was probably the first car he ever sat in that didn't have door handles. Your first thought would not be to push a button that pops the door.

What? Since when does the car prevent the doors from opening from the inside when the key fob is missing? And if that were true, how did the passerby open the door for him. Don't be so quick to judge who is an idiot.

If the Auto Lock system is enabled the doors lock after a short delay. Once they lock you cannot open the doors inside or out without a Key Fob. Also, the story never said the passerby opened the door. It said he let him out. I would bet the passer-by was someone from Carmax that either popped the door as shown in the video or told him to pop the release at his left leg. Carmax's have locked and gated corrals for their vehicles. The fact that they were closed means that he was on locked property after business hours and then opens an unlocked car sits down and gets locked in.
If the battery was dead how did he blow the horn to get someones attention.

This scenario still works if the last person driving was too close to the car, and the car thought the fob was still in the car when the door closed. The car won't auto lock at that point, so someone, hours or days, later could just open the door, get in, and get locked in.
