Default Rearview mirror lights stay on

Started my 2011 GS tonight and the mirror lights came on...and they don't turn off when I shut it off...even pressing the little black buttons doesn't turn them off...Anyone have this happen? Thanks

This, and press it just once. It's not instantaneous. Check it again in a few minutes. Let us know.

The dimmer switch thing happened to me and helpful Forum members bailed me out. I had cleaned the dash earlier in the day and had inadvertently pressed the dimmer button.

IMO, it takes 3 years to understand the little nuances and glitchy things about a C6. Why trade for a C7 and start over?

Ditto, why GM did not design the dimmer button without a in/out pushed position button (or even a led on it to tell you when it has been pushed to put the light in the on position) is beyond me.

Instead, you tap it once with your knee unknowing, get out of the car like normal and walk away thinking that the lights will dim out and shut off, only to come back some time later and see that lights are still on; praying that you did not drain the battery and the car will not start.

P.S, haven't check it yet on the C-7's yet, but going to guess that nothing has changed with that dimmer switch on those as well.

I swear I dont know how somebody hits that button with their knee unless maybe the seat is full forward. My seat is full back and my knee is nowhere near it.

Maybe it's more like an unintentional hit by a hand; I only said knee because that's what others have blamed it on .

Standing at the door to the garage at midnight and all you see in the garage are the map lights on... Keys in hand, pressing lock waiting 30 seconds... Look on the face like, WTF

I'll come back and check in an hour, but I fall asleep, next morning when I check the lights are off...

In my case I went into the garage at least an hour after I had parked the car and the lights were still on. That's when I got alarmed. I started out wondering if the car had some kind of proximity sensor?

It happened to me also, hit it by accident, and then light on but realized I hit the ****, lucky me, didn't need to read the manual.

The interior lights are supposed to time out after ~20 minutes. If yours don't, somethings wrong. I leave my trunk/hatch open while in the garage regularly.

From the Owner's Manual:
"Your vehicle has a feature to help prevent you from draining the battery in case the underhood lamp, vanity mirror lamps, cargo lamps, reading lamps, console
or glove box lamps are accidentally left on. If you leave any of these lamps on, they will automatically time-out after about 20 minutes. To reset it, all of the above lamps must be turned off or the ignition key on."
