Default WTF happened to my rear calipes?!

I haven't driven my car in about 2 weeks. Now I come outside to clean it and this is what I find. Only on my rear calipers. My front calipers are fine

Anyone have any idea wtf this is? I'm flipping out!

Yikes. No sure what that funk is, maybe someone will come along soon who has seen something similar. Was your car covered? Caliper paint?
It almost looks like some kind of electrolysis reaction, but ????

It looks like someone threw acid or something similar on them.

I'm about to go to Autozone and Advanced Auto to see if they've ever seen this before.

Get some seltzer water and baking soda... or bad idea?
Probably won't do **** to it since they're powder coated huh? I bet it's not as easy as cleaning battery corrosion.

Did you spray any specific cleaner on the wheels? I appears that the wheel is wet.

I wet my car with the hose and then went in to clean my tires/rims and that's what I found.

The only cleaner I've used in the past though is that foam tire shine from Armorall, but I've used that since I've had the car with no problem. And as stated, this problem is only on the rear calipers. So if it was the armorall, it should have caused the same damage to my front brakes. Besides, I don't even spray tire form on my break calipers, only the tire! I am at a loss =(

OK, I need to ask. Was it painted with blue caliper paint? If yes, my guess is you are leaking brake fluid. I am assuming the brake fluid is the kind that eats paint.

Well, yes... I think?

It was powder coated by one of the forum's vendors (Mike the powder coater or something like that).

Shouldnt I see brake fluid on my drive though, then?

I would agree...but BOTH rear calipers? I would pull the wheels and look at everything up close. The wheel barrel looks almost too shiny for water. Good luck.

I never seen a anything happen to a a color caliper like that..even painted ones. Could it possibly be a defect in the paint or workmanship?

My calipers were done by Mike back in 07 and still look like new. Something is wrong here. Are you sure no one sprayed them with some strong cleaner? Cant think of anything that would affect powder coat like that.

Looks like a brake fluid leak, check connections and caliper.

I wonder if the prep prior to the powder-coating was not done correctly. I would send photos to Mike the Powdercoater to see if he can explain it or possibly replace the claipers.

I have ruined a set of brembos on my old car with brake cleaner. Something strong touched it for sure
