I built the car for me. The Corvette is a great platform, just add horsepower as desired. My kids can figure out what to do with it in the future because this will be a keeper along with the other keepers.

Possibly your definition of "beat on" is similar to someone else's definition of normal operation. Just because a car is never driven over the speed limit and the RPM never reached 3,000, doesn't automatically mean it's significantly any better.

Most modded cars have owners who are far more inclined to do the maintenance to keep it in top condition. It's the bone stock 2nd and 3rd owner ones that I would be more concerned about buying.
This. People who mod their cars tend to take better care of them.

Also, you'd be surprised to see the difference in carbon buildup in an engine that has never been Wide Open Throttle, vs an engine that sees regular wide open throttle.

My best mod has been the 4:10 differential, when compared to the usual bolt ons.

Next was the suspension, the 1LT just sucks. Sways and shocks and tires.

Well, I for one really appreciate the car I have as is. I'm not a poor little rich kid like most of these C6 owners are. I only used to dream of owning a 400hp Vette . I bought it used, private sale from someone who took very good care of it. It did come with aftermarket cat back exhaust which is on the mild side which I like. (I can hear the stereo)
I came from a 245hp C4 to a 400hp C6....That was MY mod...

Your obviously not a "car guy" and know nothing about car culture to even ask such a ridiculous question. Have a nice day!

What you are missing is that for many here, the Corvette is a hobby and, as such, can be taken to extremes.

I tend to agree with you. Where I live, I never get to use the top 50 HP. To add to the 436 is just more unusable hp. Of course if you race, its a different story.

But for most Corvette owners in urban/suburban settings the car comes with all the horsepower you can safely use. But if you're a hobbyist, the extra HP exists as part of the hobby, not what can be used on the street.

If this is a serious question, then you are seriously in the wrong place.

Very well said. I DO understand. I guess because I am an older Vette owner,(67), coming from my first car being a 1950 Ford with 100hp, I never dreamed of owning anything with 400hp or more, especially without mods. Some of these guys probably never drove anything less than 200 or 300hp. I guess I'm not really a hobbyist since my Vette is my daily driver. The cost of the maintenance to keep these cars up is enough for me. Everyone to their own opinion. Only in America.

When you modify a car you dont simply add power on the top of the powerband.. You can very well improve the bottom end of the range as well. Most improvements influence the entire power band.

I'm not sure what maintenance a Corvette requires that any other car doesn't.

I own a bmw m5 as well as a 2013 z. Bmw actually plays the roar of the engine through the speakers under full acceleration to make the experience more appealing to the driver. Its all about the driving experience . What excites you is your preference . Straight line or curves . Like bill dearborn says above 99% of people dont use the power they have ,just chase a dyno number. Its just what they prefer . Happiness isnt cheap ..... Lol
