When does "Storage Season" begin where you live?
I'm thinking of helping my grandson buy a 2008 Corvette.
He already has about $23k saved for a new one.
At the rate he's saving, he won't have enough money until the end of the C8 run.
So I thought I'd spread the difference and get him into an '08 now.
Like anyone else, I'd like to take advantage of the best price I can find.
I'm guessing this will be at the beginning of the "storage season", in most areas of the north country.
My grandson lives in southern New York state near Kingston, and I'd like to find a car in that area if possible.
I'm guessing I'll find the best prices in late October, or early November, because that's when his area experiences the first freezing rain, or a little snow.
What's your best guess as regards the beginning of "storage season", in the north country?
Thanks...

I usually tuck mine away the last week of October.
Wish I would have had a Grandpa like you......
Although when I come to think about it, it was my Grandparents who borrowed me 2k to buy my first car when I was 16, a 1975 Camaro. I paid them back weekly until I paid back every cent.

No real storage season here in Florida. However, I do have to admit that during the 6 months of Inferno we have June through November, the vert just does not get driven as much as in the "winter". I see the tourists in the Vert rentals with the top down having their brains baked. I don't know how all the bald guy can take the inferno rides with no hats.

I don't store mine. I drive it all year. Even though I have Michelin Pilot SS tires (summer tires) and it can get pretty cold here, I drive it anyway. I haven't noticed any problems, but it definitely handles better in the summer.

You are an awesome grandpa and based on your grandson's saving ability, you have a fantastic grandson too. I think it's awesome when family can help each other. I got nothing on the storage question. I try to drive mine all year; when it's nice out anyway.

Mine goes into hibernation when the city starts putting sand/gravel on the streets - not necessarily the first snow. Last year that was mid November but the year before that was Dec 20th. Then it comes out as soon as the vast majority of the sand/gravel is off the roads - usually early April.

Thanks for all the responses guys...Looks like I was right.
Hunting season will be prime from about October 15th, to around November 20th.
I'd consider a really nice '06, or '07 to save a little money, but I'd rather my grandson get the advantages in the '08 upgrades, especially because he wants a stick, and the Tremec TR6060 was a considerable improvement in '08.
We'll see.

I usually put mine away mid November. It all depends on what the weather looks like it will be doing but getting later in the year we have so much going on I don't get time to drive it anyway.
If I was going to sell mine before winter storage season I would probably put it up in mid September to early October at the latest. That way it gives time to sell it before the snow starts to fly.
