Default Help me get rid of the hideous fender/tire gap

Just swapped out my rear tires to 285/30/19 nitto invos today, and i thought the side profile would be a little bit thicker but it looks pretty low profile. My car is at stock height so now i have an even bigger gap between the fender and tire. Looks kind of funny now. So should i just lower the car on stock bolts or swap out the tires? I found youtube videos on how to lower on stock bolts but it was a z06, should it be the same for a z51??

Lower it on stock bolts first, I have the exact same tire setup & also hated the wheel gap. Now my fronts areperfect with the fender & the rear are about three fingers away. If that doesn't do it for you, then lower on aftermarket bolts or do the mod to the stock ones, (but i would just buy aftermarket ones to have a double set just in case). Remember if you want to keep this setup, your new tires will be shredded without an alignment.

Stock bolts will get the job done and maintain ride quality.

Why did you go to a smaller diaameter tire? the 285/30 is 1.12" shorter diameter than the 285/35 stock size.

Your fender gap is now .56" more than it was stock (and the car is .56" closer to the ground).

Plus the active handling and traction control is not going to be very happy with the smaller diameter rear tire.

yeah i confused myself, in knew nitto tires were a bit larger than normal and i thought it was the sidewall that was made larger than normal but its the width. Ill lower it and see if it still bothers me, if it does than ill take em off. They hook nice though

I'd get the correct tires. And nitto tires actually run a little narrow on width.

305/30 are still a smaller diameter than stock so there's still more fender gap and the car is still closer to the ground.

Only +0.325" gap with the 305/30.

You'll have to make the decision yourself on brand and size, nobody can make the decision for you.

Use the chart on comparing sizes and find the closest tire diameter to stock that will fit your wheels.

You also have to keep in mind that the sizes from the charts are mostly guesswork, they are a calculation, not a measurement. There is no standard for tire measurements and it seem that every manufacturer has their own idea of how long a millimeter is.

Every tire size has a tolerance. Some manufacturers shoot for nominal, and others shoot for the bottom of the tolerance in order to save some money. But if you buy a different size, you generally get a different size.

The really small difference in width won't affect traction.
