427 oil pressure reading
I can't find my old thread...... But I have my '13, 427 Vette in the shop.
My current oil pressure readings are:
start up cold: 55 psi
temp warmed to 210:
2000 rpms in 1st gear: 47 psi
1600 rpms in 4th gear: 37 psi
1300 prms in 5th gear: 25-27 psi
at idle 700 rpms: 11-12 psi
Is this normal?? I'm getting frustrated but if it is normal... I'll get over it.
Thanks

Over 7400 miles on my 13Z and I have never paid any attention to the oil pressure

here are my readings for my 427 vert, this is at full warm up after 15 minutes.
idle is 28psi
5th gear driving 55-60 57 psi
6th gear driving 65-70 52 psi
I just turned 2900 miles on the beast

For those that have had their engines replaced due to low oil pressure, did you also have the slow crank when the engine was hot?

To the OP: I have a 2011 Z06, I live in Houston. In 98 to 101 degree ambient temps, my oil pressure never drops below 30psi at idle and I see 70-80 psi at the higher RPM's. I would be concerned if my oil pressure dropped as low as you are experiencing at idle.

I bought my 427 vert new, and with info on this forum I'm aware of oil and oil pressure related issues. Some of those on the forum who have had issues requiring a trip to the dealer have reported that the pressure pattern changed before the engine either made noises or seized. My takeaway on those observations is that if the oil pressure pattern changes for no good reason then you may have problems in the near future.
Mine since new shows 70-75 lbs on cold startup (oil temp 70 degrees). After warming up to 195 degrees, 2000 rpm and higher shows 50 or above depending on RPM, 1400 rpm pressure is 45, and hot idle is 22-23. I believe the service manual says the lowest normal pressure for this engine at hot idle is 7 lbs (I'll have to check that when I get to the shop). Engine makes no noises. Hot starts have always shown a slightly lower cranking speed but you have to be watching for it to notice - I've guessed that this may have more to do with the pistons being tighter in their bores when hot but I may be whistling in the dark as I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it.
I did the first oil change at 1300 miles. Now with nearly another 1300 miles on the car it will be time to change again and I'll be looking closely at the drain oil and maybe sending it off for analysis. One thing I do notice is that the oil is cleaner on the dipstick now at the second 1300 miles (still golden color on a white paper towel) than it was on the first 1300 miles - kind of expected I guess but not very indicative of anything unexpected. I check the pressure a couple times each time I drive the car and don't stress over what may happen. If I see a change in these pressure patterns, then its off to Bud's.

Just got back from driving my 427 to warm it up so I can change the oil. I have 13,600 miles on it, and @ 196 degrees oil temperature, my idle pressure is 21 lbs., 37 lbs. @ 1,000rpm, and 52 lbs. @ 2000rpm. Cold idle pressure is 70 lbs.

2013 Corvette Factory Service Manual spec
The 2013 FSM, page 9-590, specifies the following minimum oil pressure with the oil temp at 212 degrees F for the LS7:
24 psig @ 1,000 rpm
35 psig @ 2,000 rpm
38 psig @ 3,000 rpm
The FSM states that these readings are taken with the EN-21867-16 adapter and EN-21867 pressure guage, or equivalent.

Thanks for all the comments.
I'm going to keep 'hounding' the dealership. I have purchased 12 vehicles there in the last 10 years
