How to turn on camera Kenwood?
I just installed my Kenwood DDX5901. The backup camera comes on as it should with reverse. I wired the camera power wire to a switched source so I could turn camera on whenever I want. Anyone know how to do this on a Kenwood? Thanks.....

I found this video that shows how the camera works on my car.
That's one way. I had the same problem. The camera should turn on automatically when u put the car in reverse. I believe it's a purple wire from the head unit that says reverse camera. If u want it to turn on automatically that wire must be connected to the reverse lights on the corvette. I had to buy i believe 12 gauge wire which i ran through the inside of the car through the taillights area and connected to the reverse light wire on the rear of the corvette. After that once I put the car in reverse the camera automatically turns on. I contacted Dennis from d &d mods who helped me.

I just got it in and back together tonight. I got the camera working with reverse, and manually when driving. Got my ipod and iphone 5 both linked. Seems great so far! Sure makes a difference even with factory speakers with all the sound adjustments.

So i would have to guess that the Kenwood unit is an aftermarket unit. Just saw one in a vette i was looking at and questioned it.
How good is the unit and do you have to do any mods to the car for it to fit?
Thanks

yes the kenwood is after market, as far as fitment its a perfect fit the only thing needed is a wiring harness.

front mounted cam
not sure if u can see but I mounted my cam under the front lip u cant even see it unless u get on the ground. then run the wires, I grounded it on the frame in the engine compartment. remove the battery to get to the plug to allow access inside the car to run the wires. I used the remote power wire from the deck for power to the cam. plug the video cable from the cam to the video source on the deck. select video on the deck to turn on the front cam an your done. sorry I guess I should have cleaned off the bugs before I took the pic didn't realize they would show so well lol

on the back of the deck there will be a cable port marked back up cam, plug your rear cam into that. there will be another cable port {yellow} marked video, plug your front cam to that one.

you guys are all welcome happy to be of some assistance.
just one more thing if your doing a front cam be sure to get a non mirror cam. the rear cams are reverse/mirror to give u the proper view when backing up, an though u could use the same in the front but everything would be opposite. for instance if u go back an look at my first pic in this thread u will see my truck in the cam on the left side, that truck is actually on the right. yup I gotta order a new cam lol
