2006 Z06, 24 miles
A friend of mine is in the market for a Corvette. He found a 2006 Z06 with 24 miles at a reputable dealer. The price is reasonable. The car has bought new, and the owner immediately stored it. He never drove it. He recently traded the car for a 2014.
Carfax backs up the history of the car.
My question is, if this car has been sitting since it was new, would it be risky, from a mechanical perspective, to buy this car?
Cars are made to be driven, not kept in storage. Having said this, my friend realizes he probably never will have another opportunity to buy a used car that is basically a new car.
All opinions/suggestions are welcome.

Wow, I bought a 2003 anniversary Harley with 200 miles, was bought and put away also. Just a few things I would recommend... Fluid and oil change, tires will look new but need replaced and of course the known issue under the hood. Curious, what is the price?

That's pretty good,I don't want to be debbie downer but I would take into consideration 2 grand for heads and $1500.00 for the tires. This of course changes if the dealer gives a Warranty for a couple years on the motor. Its frustrating,we have all done it, should i do it,lots more opinions coming when everyone is done with breakfast lol...

I would buy it, change the fluids, have the battery load tested, and I would have to get it at a lower price.

It's amazing to me the number of people who say that the price need to be lower, regardless of what the asking price is. You could offer something for free and there would still be those who think it's priced too high.

One thing to consider. The only thing justifying the price is the extremely low mileage. The only way to retain that value would be to store the car immediately. If you purchase the car and begin driving it, that price value is gone immediately.
If you are going to drive the car, wouldn't it be more prudent to purchase a newer car with a warranty for the same or less money?

I may be off on this but in my opinion the C6Z looks to be the last of the big inch motors ever to be made. I think low mileage examples will be of collector value some day.

Why on earth would someone buy a brand new ZO6 and then mothball it for 8 years only to try and sell it as sort of new? I guess it takes all kinds to make the world go round. I prefer to PLAY with my purchases!
I would not touch this car without all new fluids and a new battery. Plus a new set of tires since the rubber is 8 years old now. Talking about $4,000.00 for all that just to make it road worthy. IMHO. Might be able to salvage the engine air filter and cabin air filter with the low miles.

It's a mystery to me why someone would buy a new car like that and just store it.......maybe 50 years from now it will be something to take over the bidding floor at Mecums but not now.
I don't think the low miles would appeal to me unless the price was such that I couldn't walk away. I do not want anything that I can't put a ton of miles on and not feel quilty about it....... On the other hand if he likes it he should buy it at the best deal he can get.....

If you plan on keeping it and not driving it for a couple of decades, then this would be a great one to buy. If you want to drive it, then mileage that low would be a negative in my mind. Cars are meant to be driven and not doing so is not a good thing. Lots of things in a car deteriorate with non-use.

So I'm guessing he now has the 2014 stored too. Jack ***. Those cars are meant to be driven.

Not sure why the hell anyone in their right mind would take a GS over a Z06.

2006 Z06 - More power, self imploding heads. outdated interior.
I'd take the newer GS all day.
