I'd take the newer GS all day.

You must have had very bad luck with your Z06

I on the other hand I have had very good luck with mine for over 60,000 miles and have no complaints about the interior. ( looks a lot like the GS inside )

To the op I have a 06Z that I have been very happy with and no problems what so ever!!! Ok maybe one it eats rear tires.

To the guys saying it costs to much lets see them get a Z06 with 24 miles cheaper. Yes, it will need the fluids changed and you would want the run flats gone anyway

If you are going to drive the car, wouldn't it be more prudent to purchase a newer car with a warranty for the same or less money?
Some good advise here.

But its not a Z

I don't see why people would recommend a 2012 GS. Apples and oranges. I don't think he would be able to get a 2012 GS with 24 miles for that money. Although that is a lot of money for an eight year old car. But it is a Z06. and that seems to make a whole lot of difference in pricing on all year Vettes

Maybe he wants a Z06 and this is all he can lay out for one. Many are thinking he just wants a Corvette and any Vette will do. I am sure the buyer is aware he can get a late model non Z06 for the same or less.

I would make an offer of $43k. See what they say. The tires will need changing, that's $1400. Get them to put warranty on it.

For $49k, I'd just save for a C7. Figure you'll put in another $3k for headwork on the Z06, you'll be at $52k. Again, for an 8 year old car. If you don't intend on driving the car like it's meant to (like 99% of Vette owners), the Z06 performance makes no difference.

But none of what I said should matter, get whatcha want and enjoy it!

Oh man, you're in for it now. Don't you know that the GS is the absolute best car ever created, no matter what you are doing with it? Supposedly it's so good that it even cured cancer AND aids while beating a full grid of F1 cars at Monaco, in the rain, with Danica Patrick behind the wheel, with a blindfold on, and the left turn signal locked on.

To the OP, buy the Z, replace the fluids and tires and drive it like you stole it.

How much is a C7 Z06? I think he will save a pile of money buying the Z06 he listed. far more than $3000, Most people don;t drive any Corvette the way intended. Some just want "to know it's there" Whether a base model living in their garage or a Z06 that never sees 80MPH

C7 - not C7 Z06. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

I would think the car was stored in a controlled environment. This car is virtually new. I would get a new battery with the deal. You don't have to change fluids and the tires should be fine, they are run flats, inspect them and operate on condition.

What newer tech? Other than the LS3 being newer than the LS7 the Z is a lot more car.

With 50K and just a little more I'd have to do what the Z06 guy did, buy a brand new Vette with less miles than 24 instead of a 8-yr old car out of warranty that's been sitting who knows where and how. Would you buy a brand new car without a warranty?

Don't get me wrong folks, I'm all in on the Z.....if I had to pick between a '06 and a new GS I would take the later because of the updates to the seats and interior. Both are fantastic cars and different in their own way. To the OP the price seems decent......as others have recommended, buy it, Chang fluids and tires and drive the crap out of it!

Sitting for that many years it could have been a mouse motel

It would be nice to know it was occasionally started and brought up to operating temps. Tough call, but like others have stated, new tires and fluids for sure so that adds several more thousand to the price.

And for what it's worth, I personally wouldn't touch a used LS7 out of warranty without having the heads redone.

You realize that there are 2 members in the Z06 section that have more miles on their Z than probably the entire C6 base/GS owner's cars combined. Damn that flawed LS7 engineering......
