Have you got time for a little nostalgia?

1961 white 2-door Corvair (no actual pik, below is from the web) bought in 1966 at age 16. It didn't run right, paid $75 for it.
My (older) brother-in-law thought it sounded like a valve problem, so I took the heads off and had the valves ground. When I was putting it back together we discovered it had a bent push rod. That was the likely culprit.
It ran good after that although it leaked oil like crazy from the the rear (actually the front) main seal. It would leave a puddle of oil a foot or more across on a hot day after sitting an hour or so. I bought "remanufactured" oil by the gallon at Noah's Ark and kept it in the back seat.
I was pissed at it one day so I took it out back in the field and beat the crap out of it, and ended up snapping the tranny input shaft. My first experience at pulling an engine and I had to drop the engine/transaxle on a piece of plywood with rollers under it, lift the body up and slide the engine out, more or less backwards from a normal car.
As I recall, the new shaft cost $10. Of course I replaced the seal also and it was fine after that. I sold it a year later for a '63 Olds Cutlass, had a tiny aluminum V-8 with a four-barrel. A huge step up from that lame-*** Corvair!

I'll bet it didn't take you long to figure out how to adjust the torsion bars, so you could raise or lower the front end.
My second car in 1964, was a 1957 Plymouth with a 318 cid, with 3 on the tree, which my friends and I converted to the floor.
The photos are terrible, but they're all I have.
I even liked black wheels back then.

1989 Plymouth Sundance. My parents said "this is the only car we're buying you, if you want something nice save your money." Code named "Sunny-D." It became my first business. School car pool and part-time taxi service. $10 to and from school for a week, $5 to drive you anywhere and back. $70/week for a 16 year old was good cash Iin the mid 90's, considering it was like $8 to fill it up then.

That explains the 2 million dollar house in St. Charles!

I thought I was gonna have the oldest. That was an antique many times over when you got it. Good for you that you were able to hang on to it.
Started out with a 1950 Ford with the entire drivers side wrecked. I popped the clutch late one night showing off and it tore up every gear except reverse. Drove it home in reverse for miles in SE Wash DC.

This was around the same time (young and dumb) when I would ride my bike (750 Honda) side-saddle for miles and miles, even coming to near-stops at stop signs. I never did tip it over.

I will post later on another photo what I bought after I sold it.. The TR6 is by far the best and worst car I have ever known.. Fun as hell, but I did learn how to work on cars just keeping it on the road. lol... Then again, I put ALOT of miles on it.. Lots of trips to the beach. Two trips to Yellowstone when I worked there in college. over 2000 miles round trip each time.. Most important, Chicks digged it!! lol

lol not quite but it was when I realized people are practically begging to throw cash at someone in the sake of convenience. If you've seen the show "tanked," that was my first business, or at least very similar.

1957 Karma Giha hand me down from Mom to my brother to me. Kept it 3 months and sold it for $300. That started my habit of buying and selling cars quickly.

This was my first car I "owned"… well it was owned by my father, brother and me and my part of the ownership, based on financial contribution…well lets say it would be like having 1 share of Apple and claiming you own the company A VERY mint 1954 MG TF
This was my first totally purchased by me owned car… 1967 Fiat 124 Coupe in Italian Racing Orange (this pic I have 'borrowed' as a place holder until I find pics of mine) The electrics on the car were a PIA but the Ferrari sourced engine was sweet
This is my favorite car that I have owned… I purchased new and it is one on those "kicking myself in the azz for selling" a 1973 455 Ram Air (it was a custom order submitted by the owner of the Pontiac dealership)

It was my first company car when I was hired in 1968.
About a year later it was traded in, and I got a brandy new car.
What is that on the fender?

That was a very popular car in the late 50s, and early 60s.
