Default Outside temperature reading is incorrect

The car is saying it is 130 degrees outside. The past few days it has been reading very high. Car was showing 126. I pressed the front defrost, rear defog, and fan up buttons and it instantly went to 130. Did a sensor go out?

anything is possible. go drive it at speed and the thermometer will reset. the programming behind it as I understand will not yield a value outside of the last prior measurement if when you next start up the new data records such a significant departure from the last value.

+1 - I believe that the car has to run over a certain speed for a certain amount of time before the display will update. That way, the car will not report a bogus hi reading because it was sitting in the garage with a hot engine and the sensor is heat soaked. Running the engine alone will not trigger an update.

Is the reading after you have been driving for awhile? It can take 5-10 minutes for the thermometer to adjust to the actual temp

I got 102 the other day after work, dropped to 94 a little ways down the road. My 2010 Silverado has the same "feature".

My 05 began to read 140 deg all the time for OAT. Sensor is forward on pass. side of radiator shell. I replaced mine and now it reads correctly. Part wasn't expensive believe got from Parts Geek on line.
