There is really no argument when it comes to stock vehicles. GS is better than base, Z06 is better than GS, and ZR1 is best. At least in terms of performance. When you start modding, it's anybody's game.

1/4 mile takes the driver out of the equation more than a road course. Ask most of the tuners and they'll tell you the same thing. Easier to stick a launch and hold it for 1320 than hold every apex/corner on a longer road course.

So comparing those times, gives you something w/ less of a variable. I know its not perfect, but that's why people will default to it.

Sorry, but that's simply not true. There are well documented cases where the Z06 has beat the ZR1 on certain courses. There are also cases where the base will beat the GS. All stock and all based on performance.

The idea of a hierarchy of cars is laughable. Depending on the situation, a different car will have strengths and weaknesses against its competitors. Just because a car has more HP, bigger brakes, cost more, or whatever difference does not necessarily mean that it will perform better in all cases.

Yeah, but is the Z06 really $25K better? Nice track car, but you can add a blower to the GS and have 200+ more HP than a Z, and have $15K left in the bank.

I've got a friend who owns a Z. Took him for a ride the other day and did some 3rd gear fwy pulls. His face -->

Of course, it's all relative. For the price of my blown GS, I could have an 8-second EVO, and have a lot of money left over. But I'd look way less cool.

False! All of that left over money would be spent and then some on engine rebuilds!!

But as of now it's really Not 20K Difference, You can find a C6 Z06's for 6-10K apart?Being there no longer new. 30K- for a Ls3 to 36K-40K, Z06 from 37k-40K. Really isn't 20K difference anymore???

If you paid $25k more for a Z06 compared to a GS that are similar otherwise then you got screwed, the difference is around $10k, GS is about $5k more than base. ZR1 about $15-20k more than Z06.

You can keep playing the modded game until your head hurts. In your example you can buy a crouch rocket bike for less than half of a base Corvette and still beat any Corvette. Even 4-5 seater sedans are pretty quick these days and can give most Corvettes a good run.

Just choose whatever option of Vette you like and enjoy it. Just be prepared to have a higher actual $$$ depreciation the higher up you go. $40k or so for a ZR1 after 3-4 years, vs $10-15k on a base C6.

Solution: Grand Sport with an LS7. Best of both - LS7 revs, 427 torque, wide-body looks and grip, TARGA !

My LS7 powered GS is amazing. I think the LS3 is a wonderful motor and great performer. This LS7 is just THAT much better.

How about buy the base and do the wide body kit and get the 05- with the LS2 and A4 trans then you will have the best of all

What a great thread!! Almost as good as the other one stating the superiority of vettes with fender flares

Let's keep up the good work and continue to fuel the stereotypes of why everyone hates Corvette owners.

The LS2 RULES!!!! this was done at a part throttle very easy launch 2000 rpm and not floored until 3 cars out with a very bad prepped track, by a 303 lb dressed man. and a NARROW BODY NA C6 with 487 rwhp
http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...is50nj/004.jpg

It was the first Bolt/On C6 in the 10's It also beat the LS3 H&C 10.63 same day same track with just mere Bolt/Ons 10.62 then beat the LS3 H&C record with cam only 10.59 and on and on, faster each time at the track. I am saving that 9 second NA pass for when an LS3 can beat the LS2 NA 10.15 of Stanger383 narrow body

I'm going to reboot this discussion.

The grand sport, according to the numbers here, can't beat a skinny or a narrow body in a drag race due to weight and drag. It also can't beat a z06 on the track because its a wanna be Z06. So where does it win?

And you can hope in my z06 h/c blown and your face will do the same. A crotch rocket got his as# hahanded to him a few days ago. 60-150 blast.
