The LS7 motor leaves me wanting in the longevity department.

Cool car but being set up for track isn't for me.

For a fun car to much liability with the valve train.

I wouldn't touch one unless I was still working and could support it.

Gotta admit though displacement is king.

It gives a substantial edge on the racetrack, but some ignorant people dont know this. The GS package actually splits the difference between the base and the Z06 on track, for a bargain price.

Split the difference?

The GS has the same engine & frame, and the same choice of transmissions and differentials as the C6. The "difference" is flared fenders, heavier brakes and tires to equal aprx 200#'s of weight. And about $7,000 purchase price.

The only thing the GS has in commonwith the Z06 is the appearance, tires & brakes.

You honestly don't think that a GS would be faster on a road course? One of the car magazines did a test comparing every new corvette in 2012 and the GS was 5 seconds faster around the track. The cheaper Z06 beat out the ZR-1 in case you're thinking it was a conspiracy.

You keep posting times up of a old list of people's times. My friend is on the list and he sold his car in 2008 and I personally know people who have run faster than some of the fastest times. This list don't mean anything.

Don't let the dozens of articles, recorded lap times and reviews fool you. After reading a few more threads like this one (and they all evolve into the same talking points with the usual suspects participating), you'll figure out it's easier to just accept the GS is a slow marketing gimmick that is too heavy to get out of its own way.

Besides, everyone knows the only real test of any car's performance is how fast it can do a quarter mile. Things like traction, braking and holding speed through and out of corners lap after lap isn't really important for a sports car.

Just because its old doesn't mean it never happened. I have a time on their from November in the bolt ons, its still constantly updated.

My point is that list doesn't have every single run ever made on it. It isn't accurate. There's 8 second ls3's just like there's 8 second ls7's. Both platforms can be made equally as fast.

That topic was definitely beaten up. Most of his posts are probably performance of a base vs GS.

Thats why I mentioned ignorant people, you are clearly part of that group. The GS is much faster around the road course than a base, actually closer to Z06 and ZR1 performance than a base corvette. And I am talking Z06 w/ultimate performance package.

Why dont you look into the facts you so boldly claim, or are you deliberately lying? Better yet, why dont you just apologize to everyone for being so wrong and stating facts so incorrectly?

Yes splits the difference in lap times. Actually more than splits the difference. It turns out, tires, suspension and brakes make up a lot of time on the race track - but if you had ever been around one in the driver seat you would know this.

BTW, the price was closer to 5k than 7k, at least in 2010 when I purchased.

I am very glad to be part of a group that needs real proof, not a flock of sheep being led by GM and their hired gun, my car ran its times, the mags all posted the 1/4 times and they were proved wrong, I already heard the theory before and then it came out there was more then one driver, you preach your sermon and I will preach mine, I proved with the list that everyday people the base is faster, prove to me with some real collected data that its faster on the majority of road courses with everyday corvette owners at the track, not hired GM guns, no need for name calling just back it up with facts not I read it in a magazine by road and trackI have nothing to prove or gain by what I said, I own the First C6 body style 05 and have set and broke more records then most, I know racing and what makes a car fast, the base narrow body is just a tire change and rotors away from destroying the GS, I didn't start this thread and I'm not going to sit back and listen to the lies the GS owners are spewing about how great the GS is and it destroys the Z06 and to the others with the faster times on the list they should have posted them, wonder why they didn't. I talked enough **** on here I would think people would be trying to shut me up and smash some of my records. so that leads me to believe they couldn't

So with that logic a 638hp ZR1 is a Z06 Look Alike Clone with a LS9? SMH

Snobby Corvette owners like you make the community suffer. I never trashed the Z, i respect it for what it is. They are two different cars and attract a different buyer.

2013 C6 Corvette Grand Sport

-Base Price: $49,575

2013 C6 Corvette Z06

-Base Price: $76,575

I think i'll stick with my Z06 Look alike Clone and keep my Valves in their intended location.

I love how the LS2 still has faster times than the LS3 GS!!! I'm glad, I saved my 6K before buying my first corvette. I drove a LS3 and my Z51 LS2 the same day. I just could not feel much difference in the pants. I don't get it? There should be a much more noticeable difference for Gm's new base LS3? Go get em dennis50nj. I loved your old threads on the LS3 vs LS2. You sir are my favorite on this forum!!! You tell it how it is, Based on FACTS!! Nothing against the GS there sweet looking cars with the Shark like gills on the side!!

Not surprised you didn't notice a lot of difference between the two its only 36hp. Seeing as how this is a thread about Z06 vs ls3 how did the Z06 compare???
