Default Exhaust question

I have an 05 with stock exhaust. What would be the minimum parts I would need to be able to add something like Mild to Wild. I would love to have some sound while putting around town but on the highway would like it quiet. Thanks for your help.

Do you have the NPP exhaust? If so, Mild to Wild kits are straight forward and easy to install yourself.

No NPP exhaust. So I know I would need the mufflers with the valves on the end. Do I need any of the rest of the piping? I want to start looking for used parts but wanted to make sure I know what I'm looking for and what the correct names are for it.

You need an '08 NPP and an exhaust controller. '08 is the only bolt in NPP, other years will require cutting and welding.

For the exhaust controller use http://sunsetorangecreations.com/

When you say NPP, is that just the mufflers w/ tail pipes or the entire system? As you can tell don't know much about it.

'08 only, mufflers w/overaxle pipes attached. 7 parts to a stock exhaust. You need parts #6 & #7

#1 & #2 L&R manifolds
#3 & #4 L&R cats
#5 mid pipe
#6 & #7 L&R over axle/mufflers/tips.

Hal, just a question: for "sound" reasons, does he need a different mid-pipe? I'm wondering if that year LS2 had an H-pipe and the sounds would/might be different with an X-pipe.

Sort of. Those are the physical exhaust parts. To actually operate the system, he will also need the vacuum side of the NPP system....controller, solenoid, vacuum lines. Most people use "NPP in a Box".

I don't think there's noticeable difference between the sound thru an "H" or "X" pipe. If you put them side by side and asked someone which was which the answer would be guess work.

See my post #4.

Already answered. I prefer the Sunset Orange switches, he is the Manufacturer and Supplier of his kits and is a Forum Vendor.
