Have I really stumped the collective knowledge of Corvette Forum??
Never thought I'd ever see a question about a Corvette to which nobody here (so far) has the definitive answer.
Here's my initial post and question.
My C6 is a 2006 model. Anybody with newer models have those things on the bottom? Maybe those mystery squares are only on the 2006 models...and that's why nobody knows much about them.

It's not just your 2006 that has them, my 2011 has them too. I would guess your best chance at getting the correct answer is if Talon90 responds. It seems he quit posting after all the bickering when the C7 came out.

I think others had some good idea on your other thread. My 07 has them so it's not unique to the 06. I know 3M makes a product that looks like that for attaching to sheet metal and other metal parts to take out the vibration. That could be what it is.

I remembered this from years ago. I don't think we ever got a definitive answer but there are some interesting thoughts in here.

After further research I have found out that they are "speed squares" They are designed to blow off at 170mph. They are there to reveal if your car has ever reached this speed or not.

I gave you,or whomever asked in the other thread a while back, the definitive answer. It is the tin foil that keeps the aliens away.Don't think I'm right? Well, have you ever seen an alien since owning your vette?? I rest my case.

The two floor boards (passenger and driver sides) are a composite sandwich of balsa wood in the middle and other outer materials. You are just looking at the bottom of the sandwich in those 4 squares.

Just like my buddy always snaps his fingers when he goes outside. When I ask him why he does that, he says that it keeps the pink elephants away. So far, it's worked.

The triangular metal piece ahead of the floorboard where the duct tape squares are located is known as the lower floor extension and apparently is initially properly located and set in the frame space by rivets. I believe those duct tape squares are covering and sealing the rivet locations.

I always thought they were for noise vibration.
Maybe they also cover some rivets for water intrusion.
So...what is the part number and GM's name for said part?

Newp, those are factory made holes where the robotics unit had to grip the car chassis for rotational purposes. They are then covered up with tape to prevent water from getting inside.
